Ralph Lauren was here first. Read his latest interview in Elle Decor.

“Wearing Ralph Lauren, or living with it as bed linens or wallcoverings or a chair’s slipcover, always makes you feel as if you’re playing a part in a larger and longer narrative. Maybe you’re Cary Grant or Grace Kelly or Katharine Hepburn; maybe Faye Dunaway or Steve McQueen. You might also feel the style of Ralph and Ricky Lauren guiding you, images of the couple in the Hamptons or in Colorado or in Jamaica or in a country estate on a loop in your mind’s eye. But ultimately, and this is perhaps the key to it all, the story is always ultimately about you.”

Hello from Cincinnati! This time, Henri joined me for the trip, and I chose to drive. It wasn’t the easiest trip, leaving late and driving in the rain, but 100% worth it to have him with me.

On Friday, I stopped by my former French teacher’s classroom to talk to her junior/senior class. She was such a big influence on me that I wanted to thank her in person and, hopefully, spark something in the students. As they left for the weekend, they all received the “tout est possible” cards. Madame Marsh commented that it would be a great lesson to start next week, encouraging them to think about their future and what they want. A great way to kick off the weekend.

I squeezed in as much family time as I could, seeing cousins, my aunt and uncle, and my sister/brother-in-law and the kids were in town. On Saturday, I had a signing at the bookstore I grew up going to, Joseph Beth. When I saw they were carrying the book, I jumped at the chance to do an event with them. Plus, this is a fun opportunity to see my book-loving niece in her element, picking out books for herself to enjoy.

Also, can I just mention I worked on links ahead of time so I could enjoy family time and be present? Cheers to goals for 2026. Plus, my dad does not know his own wifi password, so this was done via phone hotspot. You do what you have to do!

Diane von Fustenberg shares three life and beauty lessons. I just loved this quote: Love Every Season

“Much like the moon, women also have seasons. The spring of life is when everything is starting, and you like to marvel at each and every thing. Then there is the summer of life, where the fruits of it all are being revealed. In the autumn of life, there are many beautiful colors and lessons. Then you enter winter, which is where I am now. It’s such a luxury to have experienced the other three seasons because aging is such a luxury. It’s beautiful, too.”

Hello from Healdsburg! Yes, if you are thinking I have been on the road a lot, you are correct. Last week it was Paris. I had an incredible opportunity to do an author event with Paula McLain, and I couldn’t say no. Because of the schedule, it fell a few days after Paris. Ironically, my word for 2026 is rest. Something I knew I would have to really work on. This was 100% worth it!

winter in Paris

Happy long weekend! We have two big football games on the agenda. First up, The Bears on Sunday and the Hoosiers on Monday. Last Sunday, we picked up a bunch of our frames at Framebridge, and they were finally hung on Friday. After having piles of frames around our house, it feels good and complete now that we have pieces hung. I ended up ordering a few more when we were in last week, and I am excited to add those.

My friend Kat can vouch that I was the shoemaker with no shoes. The first time she set foot in my apartment, she was shocked to find my walls bare. It was Kat who encouraged me to start framing my own photography and let them have a space in my home. Now that my husband and I have started, we add new art and rotate different pieces in rooms to change things up. I have shared some of the new pieces on Instagram and will share some of my favorite Framebridge frames in an upcoming Substack post. This is always a hot topic.

I am happy to be home in Chicago for a few weeks. This first week back was supposed to be slow, but I jumped back in with both feet. I still need to work on my goals and strategy for the new year. Hopefully, next week, I can carve out some quiet time to do this. I fell down the rabbit hole of teaching myself something new mid-week. Welcome to Links I Love! I can’t wait to continue this tradition into my 10th year of blogging. I hope my weekly collection of links inspires you, sparks an idea, or teaches you something new. This is a nod to my grandma, who used to send me Post-it notes and cut out articles. Friends and family occasionally contribute now, too, when they discover a new article and send me a link they think will make a great addition to the Sunday post.

Grab your coffee and croissants, and join me for links I love.

After time away from work and home, I am ready to get back to a routine and a slower-paced life than the past couple of months. The first couple of weeks of January will be slow before I head to Paris at the end of the month. I have five book events in a short time! My word for the year is rest, and I will tell you I had a few good naps between Christmas and New Year’s. I can’t wait to share more about how rest will unfold in 2026 and the other ideas I have for the year ahead.

Ironically, it is when I let my brain rest that a new and exciting book idea came to me. I plan to pitch it and bring it to life this year.
