I was born & raised in Chicago, in Andersonville. At that time, a long time ago, it was truly a Swedish neighborhood. Stores, churches & population was primarily Swedish. Both sides of my family Immigrated to Chicago in the early 1900’s. My grandparents owned a business in the Merchandise Mart for 40 years. Most of my family moved to Southern California where I still live with my husband. We have returned to Chicago numerous times, our son. & daughter have run the Chicago Marathon several times. I became a Francophile on our first trip to Paris. I literally left my heart in Paris. Our home is French country, I cook many French recipes (Julia Child). We spent a week in Provence & loved it. It is very similar to Southern California . A tip…. We rented a smaller BMW while there to go exploring, which was great, but the car literally got jammed in a tiny, curved street in a hillside village! Was quite an experience getting out of that situation 😅 I love your weekly blog & miss Paris so much! My last visit was 3 years ago right now with our newly married daughter& her husband. And for Provence try Cassis and a calanque tour.

I was in Paris in June but came home wishing I’d bought more souvenirs so I searched your archives and discovered your link to the Paris museums boutique site. I’ve already placed 2 orders and the shipping is reasonable and quick and I was delighted to order items from the Louvre! Would love more ideas on French boutiques or stores that ship internationally in future posts!

Travel is not available to me right now so incorporating the French sense to everyday living is lovely. Over the years your clothing choices have become a pit pricier. I was wondering if you might do a high/low selection from time to time. Thanks again for bringing back Frenchify!

Hi Anita,

Thank you! This is one of the most popular items readers have bought this summer. I don’t think any bag is fully comfortable if it is too heavy. I would leave it to a picnic blanket and picnic items and you should be good 🙂

I am looking for a new straw basket to take to the market (the one I have now has rope handles that are uncomfortable on my shoulder when full). Is the one linked the one in the first pic in Paris? Is it comfortable when full to carry?
