What to Pack for Paris in the Spring 2026

spring sunrise in Paris

Paris in the spring is one of my favorite times to visit, and one of the most popular seasons for good reason. The city wakes up from its winter slumber with soft pink blossoms and sun drenched cafés that beg for a long afternoon and a glass of rosé.

Packing for Paris in the spring, however, can be a bit challenging. Between crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, and the occasional rain shower that appears when you least expect it.

Layers are key for navigating spring weather in Paris. Follow along for exactly what to pack so you feel prepared, comfortable, and looking Parisian chic.

Key Items to Pack for Paris in the Spring

What to Expect for the Weather in Paris in the Spring

what to pack for Paris in the spring everyday parisian

The weather can be cold and rainy, or even snowy, in late March and early April at the beginning of spring. April is typically warm and sunny with some rain. May tends to be one of the rainiest months of the year. Pack and plan accordingly if you are planning a trip in May. Expect your spring trip to Paris to include at least one rainy day.  It’s a good idea to pack an umbrella and waterproof shoes. Keep your umbrella in your everyday bag because you never know when a shower might pop up, even on the sunniest days. Rain or shine, your Paris trip will be a great time.

Spring weather in Paris can be varied, depending on the time of year you visit. You will want to pack layers of scarves, sweaters, coats, and even boots. Sneakers are great for exploring Paris. You can see more details below.

The cherry blossoms happen earlier each year, and you can expect them from late March to mid-April. One of my favorite places to spot them is the Eiffel Tower. Enjoy a picnic here on a sunny spring day. Late April is the perfect time to visit for warm weather before the crowds arrive.

You can see this post for ideas on where to visit Paris in Bloom.

Coats to Pack for Paris in the Spring

Sézane trench coat Paris

I highly recommend packing at least one coat for Paris. A trench coat is a classic French wardrobe staple, and you will see Parisian women wearing trench coats on sunny and rainy days. This isn’t just a raincoat; it is a style statement. Since the early mornings and evenings can get cold, I recommend packing a light or silk scarf as a layering accessory. A leather jacket isn’t a bad idea, and you will find another classic French staple piece in Parisian fashion. I purchased mine from Madewell a few years ago and have gotten so much use from it over the years. (sized up to a medium)

Where to Shop in Paris for Spring Clothes

If you feel underdressed or out of place due to what you packed, do not stress. There are plenty of shops where you can pick up a souvenir such as a coat, a pair of sneakers, a scarf, or a bag. After all, Paris is the city of fashion. Some shops that I love include Maje, Soeur, Sandro, SézaneComptoir des Cotonniers, Galleries Lafayette which, has just about every brand under one roof.

Blazer Jackets for Spring in Paris

I love a good blazer jacket for spring to layer up. Throw this over a blouse or button-up. Paris is showing them in bright, bold colors. I am not there yet and prefer my basic navy, camel, and black staples. You choose what is best for you and go with it!

The Best Bags for Paris in the Spring

what to pack for paris in the spring everyday parisian

You may be surprised, but fanny packs are trending in Parisian fashion. They are called “banane” because they are shaped like a banana. I own a bag by the famous French brand Rive Droite, which you will see all over Paris. You can buy one at their store in the Marais or at Galleries Lafayette, where I purchased mine.

Tote bags like my favorite, Cuyana, are perfect for carrying around a camera, wallet, and umbrella. A crossbody or banane bag will be suitable for carrying a few things. For those of you with a Lululemon everywhere bag, you can wear this in Paris if you are dressed up a bit. I wouldn’t wear gym wear, sneakers, and a Lululemon bag around Paris if you don’t want to stand out like a tourist.

French basket bag for picnics in Paris

Crossbody bags are trendy and come in a variety of colors and fabrics. Mine are classic black and brown, with a clasp to secure my belongings. A basket bag is a fun Parisian accessory when the weather is warm enough.

Paris neutral wardrobe for spring

When it comes to packing for Paris in the spring, I love to pack neutral colors to mix and match. A pair of black pants, jeans, ankle boots, basic tees, and a cashmere sweater can all be combined as a capsule wardrobe. Add your trench or leather coat to create different outfits. French classic styles are evolving, but a neutral color palette is still on repeat. On a few of my last trips, there was still a lot of black-on-black. Tights (specifically black) are on trend and a good way to keep warm under a skirt, shorts, or black dress.

Layer your favorite t-shirt, camisole, or tank under sweaters for extra warmth.

The Best Walking Shoes for Paris

Comfortable walking shoes are essential when discovering Paris. You never want to get a blister or have sore feet on vacation. Paris is best explored on foot. I highly recommend flats instead of heels. The cobblestones aren’t so easy to navigate in heels. For sneakers, I love Veja, Samba, or New Balance. To prevent blisters, I swear by Moleskin inside of your shoes. You can buy it on Amazon or at your local drugstore. For flats, my go-to is the Margaux Demi. (wearing below)

Margaux Demi flats a comfortable shoe option for exploring Paris by foot

Sneakers are HOT right now in Paris, and I am not talking about your Nike running shoes. Veja, a French shoe brand, is available at Nordstrom or shops in Paris. This is a brand I saw all over Paris, and I have two pairs myself. You will want to wear no-show socks with them.

Skirts and Dresses for Paris

Staud dress Paris spring

I love wearing skirts and dresses in the spring. Dress up your Parisian outfit in a leather jacket, with ballet flats, and a scarf. Have fun with this, and enjoy your vacation. The French aren’t typically dressed in leggings and sweatshirts. Leave those at home and pack these instead for some inspiration for some of my current favorites.

A-line skirts and mini pleated skirts have been spotted on the streets of Paris. If you want to pack a dress, below are some great options. You can never go wrong with a little black dress, paired with tights on cold days or ballet flats on warmer days.

The Sézane Pippa is a classic dress and perfect for exploring Paris. It is super comfortable and easy to pack. Wearing a size small.

Spring Layers for Paris

Sweaters are great for Paris in the spring. In the colder months, you will need an extra layer under your trench or leather jacket.

leather jacket madewell paris in the spring

Spring weather in Paris will surprise you. I highly recommend packing layers. It snowed last April 1st. A camisole, sweater, scarf, and light jacket should do the trick. Depending on the month, there will be cold days, and you will want warm, closed-toed shoes. The Gaspard from Sézane is one of my favorite layering pieces. Even in the spring months, when it is warm, you can throw it over a tank or dress.

Katie Babies Sézane heels

My go-to shirts are button-downs and blouses, which work with pants and skirts. To complete the look, throw on a leather jacket or trench coat.

The Best Pants to Pack for Paris in The Spring

Jeans are perfect and completely acceptable dressed up. They are wearing high-waisted, cropped, and skinny jeans. These from Frame are new favorites, along with these from Paige. Comfortable and easy to pair with a blouse or sweater.

Spring Accessories to Pack for Paris

An umbrella is essential when visiting Paris in the spring, and good, comfortable walking shoes are also essential. You want sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, depending on how sunny it is. Make sure to pack a top zip bag for walking around Paris. You always want to keep your belongings secure. My favorite bags include a simple Longchamp bag from Cuyana and Polène, which fits my camera, phone, and everything I need.

In terms of safety, I recommend you brush up on these tips. I keep a small wallet with one credit card and an ID; the rest is in the apartment or hotel safe. If lost, one always has a backup to get through the rest of the trip.

I hope this helps you plan what to pack for the city of lights. My goal is for you to have the best trip. You can download The Paris Guide for more details on where to stay, eat, drink, and explore in Paris. It is filled with helpful maps and links to explore hidden gems.

Paris 3-Day Spring Itinerary

My Paris 3-day spring itinerary is here! I have been writing this for a few weeks now and wanted to put all my helpful Paris planning tips into one itinerary. My original 3-day itinerary was a big hit, especially the printed guide, which is now sold out.

About Rebecca Plotnick Behind Everyday Parisian

everyday parisian

Here’s a little about me if you’re new. I have been photographing Paris since 2010, when I took my first solo trip. You can find my photography available in The Print Shop. Everyday Parisian started nine years ago after I was homesick for Paris. Friends and strangers asked for Paris recommendations. It was a great way to consolidate all my knowledge in one place and easily access it.

I travel to Paris several times a year and always have an ear to the ground for new openings and hidden gems. These are all the recommendations I would give to family and friends headed to Paris. I wish you the best trip to Paris possible and that you fall in love with my favorite city.

During my frequent visits to Paris, I scout new locations and revisit my recommended restaurants and cafés to ensure they still meet my standards.

Who is the Paris Spring 3-day Itinerary For?

The Paris Spring 3-day itinerary is ideal for those seeking a more structured experience. Each day offers options for a first-time Paris experience, cafés, museums, and off-the-beaten-path gems. Experience Paris as a local for a weekend, shopping at the market and having a picnic under the cherry blossoms.

Choose your own adventure: spend a Saturday in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and a Sunday in the Marais. The 3-day guide is divided into the Left Bank and the Right Bank, giving you two for the price of one.

Start planning now with the Paris spring 3-day itinerary. You can use the itinerary to plan a spring trip to Paris with my recommendations on where to eat, drink, and explore.

How is it different from The Paris Guide?

The Paris Spring 3-day itinerary is ideal for individuals who require more guidance with planning. There are suggestions for spending time in Paris in the morning and evening each day. Restaurant recommendations are well-coordinated with local museums and parks. The itinerary is centered around the spring season and is excellent for both first-time travelers and seasoned Paris experts.

The Paris Guide is a more detailed, 80+ page guide for those who want in-depth information on where to eat and drink, hidden gems, neighborhood guides, and shopping tips. Use the guide to help plan the best trip and choose from the categories that best suit your needs in a personal Paris trip.

Do I need both The Paris Guide and the Paris Spring Itinerary?

If you haven’t been to Paris in a while or it’s your first time, you may want to consider purchasing both. This provides a detailed itinerary and helpful tips to help you customize your trip.

What is The Paris Guide Digital PDF?

The Paris Guide is a digital PDF you can download and take with you on your iPad, computer, and phone. It includes many helpful links to restaurants and hotels for booking and reservations, along with Google Maps. If you prefer a paper copy, The Paris Guide is available in a printed version. These fit perfectly in your bag for on-the-go planning in Paris. Printed guides are limited in quantity and are selling quickly. Note, if you are not tech-savvy, I recommend the printed version.

A Guide to the 9th Arrondissement of Paris

Paris is constructed based on 20 arrondissements, numbered from 1 to 20, and the numbers grow as you get further out from the center of the city. The Seine divides the city, and there is a Left and Right Bank to Paris. The 9th arrondissement is located on the Right Bank and is not your typical postcard Paris filled with Parisian monuments and tourist-filled cafés.  For more of a local experience, this is the perfect place to stay or spend an afternoon exploring. I hope this guide to the 9th arrondissement inspires you to explore this part of Paris.

If you visit Paris for the first time, the 9th arrondissement may not be on your list, but it should be on your next trip. It is one of the best neighborhoods in Paris, full of food, entertainment, cultural museums, and history.

How to Get to the 9th Arrondissement in Paris

I love exploring Paris on foot and find it the best way to see the city of light. If walking isn’t for you, several metro stations are nearby. Cadet, Notre Dame de Lorette, and Opéra will put you in an excellent position to explore the ninth arrondissement of Paris.

Paris Metro grands boulevards

I wrote this post after hearing from many readers who had booked one of my favorite hotels, Adèle and Jules. I have been sending individual Google maps and recommendations for this neighborhood, and I felt it was time for a blog post. There are other great hotels in the 9th district that I will cover in this post as well, where friends have recently stayed and loved.

Where to Stay in the 9th Arrondissement

Adèle and Jules is a four-star boutique hotel located in the 9th arrondissement. It is made up of two identical small buildings, Adèle and Jules. I stayed here in 2018 on a winter evening and shot a photograph that is one of my most popular images in The Print Shop. It was a quick one-night stay to explore the hotel and possibly write about it on the blog. Now, it is one of the most popular hotels among EDP readers.

adele and jules paris boutique hotel in the 9th arrondissement

The hotel is moderately priced compared to other Paris hotels and offers a great location, friendly staff, and clean rooms. Some rooms have a quiet courtyard view that looks over the Parisian rooftops, and some have Juliette balconies with a view of the tiny side street the hotel sits on. I have stayed at the hotel multiple times since 2018 and always had a great stay. For our Atlas Adventures Paris trips, the hotel accommodated a group of 25 girls. They also offer connecting family rooms for those traveling with kids.

New Hotels in the 9th Arrondissement to Discover

Hotel Massé is a brand-new hotel in the 9th arrondissement. I recently stayed here and loved the location for exploring. The rooms are compact and have little storage space, so keep that in mind. I had a room on the top floor with a bathtub and vaulted ceilings. Try for a balcony when booking. I skipped breakfast and found a coffee and a croissant in the neighborhood. There are tons of options in the area.

Budget-Friendly Hotel in the 9th Arrondissement

Maison Mère is a four-star budget hotel in the 9th arrondissement. I recently stayed here over the summer, and my fiancé and I were lucky enough to have a balcony with a rooftop view. The hotel is near Parisian cafés, bakeries, and great coffee shops. If you want a budget-friendly option, this hotel has a co-working space.

Where the 9th Arrondissement is Located in Paris

One of the reasons I love the 9th arrondissement is that, while it may not be as touristy as other Paris arrondissements, it is well located to much of the city. Montmartre is just a few additional minutes’ walk from the 9th.

The 18th arrondissement is Montmartre, a great place to spend an afternoon. You can see my full Montmartre guide here.

South Pigalle, or SoPi, is another name for the 9th arrondissement of Paris. When I first moved to Paris in 2013, the area wasn’t as hot and trendy as it is now. Finding a good coffee shop or brasserie that wasn’t a tourist trap was hard. That has all changed in the last ten years, making this area a must-visit in Paris, filled with great food and coffee.

Main Streets in the 9th Arrondissement

everyday parisian fall trench Sézane

The 9th arrondissement has a few main streets. Grands Boulevards is one of the largest streets and the central metro station when traveling around Paris.

Rue des Martyrs is one of my favorite streets to walk down. It is full of excellent bakeries, cafés, and coffee shops. My favorite places include Boulangerie Mamiche (get the brioche) and Sébastian Gaudard, which has the best lemon tart.

Sebastien Gaudard Patisserie Paris

Pain Pain is also a popular spot. I always get overwhelmed by the desserts there and can never decide. Grab one of their sandwiches to go for a spring picnic in the park.

pain pain paris

You can walk from Adéle and Jules to Montmartre in less than 15 minutes. You will be very close to Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur.

opera garnier paris france

Boulevard Haussmann is the main street that will take you to Palais Garnier, the opera house in Paris. You will also be close to two of the main upscale department stores in the city. Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are located in the heart of Paris. These shops are also known as the grand magasins.

Rue du Faubourg Montmartre is also the main street leading to the center of Paris, which has several restaurants and shops in the 9th arrondissement. It is a good street to bookmark and use as a base when exploring.

What to do in the 9th Arrondissement

Explore the Passage des Panoramas all over the 9th arrondissement. You can start at Rue des Martyrs and walk through covered passages down to Galleries Vivienne, which will end in Palais Royal. It is one of my favorite walks in Paris and one of the best places to spend a rainy day. As you stroll, explore Passage Jouffroy and Passage Verdeau and the hidden gems and shops that line the arcades. Book a lunch or dinner at Racines, a hidden gem in the Passage des Panoramas.

covered passages paris france

Musée de la Vie Romantique, which is the museum of romantic life. Even if you aren’t into visiting the museum, I highly recommend the rose garden. You can also stop here for something from Rose Bakery. This museum just recently reopened in Paris as of 2026.

What to do in the 9th Arrondissement of Paris

Visit the Opéra Garnier. You can book tickets in advance for a tour or do a self-guided tour. The central location is just off the Opéra metro line and you cannot miss it. Don’t miss the grand staircase of this historical landmark.

Paris Opera

One of the best views in Paris is at the top of the Galleries Lafayette Department store.

Where to Shop in the 9th Arrondissement

Discover Maison Murphy for the dog/cat lover. This shop is female owned and just the cutest! I picked up a toy for Henri during my visit.

merci murphy dog shop Paris 9th arrondissement

Sézane L’Appartement, the main Sézane store in Paris, is just a quick walk from Adèle and Jules. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays, so consider that when planning your visit. Sézane now has multiple locations in Paris, but this is the largest. The lines on Fridays and Saturdays are long, so be prepared or try to come just as the store opens. Bring a copy of your passport to collect the VAT tax if you spend over 100 euros. This is technically in the 2nd arrondissement but a close walk to the 2nd.

It is cheaper to buy Sézane in person, especially with the euro conversion. If you have your eye on a big-ticket item from Sézane, such as a bag or coat, I would wait to purchase it in France. You can see a guide to the Sézane bags to help you understand what you are looking for when you are in Paris.

A la Mère de Famille is the oldest chocolate shop in Paris, and its first and best location is in the 9th arrondissement. You will see other smaller shops around Paris, but this is the original and is worth exploring. Pick up souvenirs for home or indulge in chocolate treats for yourself. The iconic brown-and-orange packaging and prepackaged chocolates make great gifts.

la mere de famille paris chocolate shop a guide to the 9th arrondissement

Boulevard Haussmann has two iconic shopping destinations in Paris: Printemps department store and Galeries Lafayette. Both offer rooftop views of Paris and are a must in the 9th arrondissement. You can choose which to visit, as both aren’t necessary. I have always gravitated towards Galleries Lafayette for its stained-glass ceiling and Christmas windows.

Where to Eat Pastries in the 9th Arrondissement in Paris

Union Boulangerie is a must! Get the canelle roll (cinnamon), you will thank me. Make sure to check the hours as they are closed on Sundays.

union boulangerie a guide to the 9th arrondissement

Babka Zana is incredible! You can grab sandwiches here. Again, this is another cinnamon favorite when it comes to Babka flavors. Their chocolate is their best seller, and I highly recommend getting two. They keep well, so you can nibble on them over a few days. If anyone stops here before flying back to Chicago, I will love you forever if you bring me back a cinnamon babka roll.

Le Comptoir de Madeleine Paris – 9th Arrondissement is a small shop offering delicious madeleines fresh out of the oven with hot coffee. The window allows you to look inside the bakery at work. Step inside to order from the take out window. Enjoy your treats back at your hotel or apartment. I won’t blame you if you can’t wait and sneak a bite. They are delcious and freshly baked.

Where to Eat in the 9th Arrondissement Classic Paris

A classic Parisian restaurant open for lunch and dinner is what you will find at Lorette in the 9th arrondissement in Paris. A few spots on the exterior are prime for people watching. Enjoy a cozy meal inside on a rainy or cold day. Try an item off their chalkboard menu for something seasonal and fresh. The regular menu is also filled with French classics. Reservations are easy to book online in advance. Walk-ins are welcome, but they may be full during peak times.

Enjoy wine, cheese, and charcuterie at 17.45 Paris Pigalle. Reservations are recommended. I arrived at the opening and snagged a table. This fills up fast and is reasonably priced. Perfect solo or to meet a group of friends.

Where to Eat in the 9th Arrondissement

Bonhomme, I had the most incredible meal at Bonhomme in the 9th arrondissement. There is a small terrace with a few tables outside. I visited in October and wanted to soak up the nice weather on the terrace. The inside space is beautiful as well. I can’t stop dreaming about the innovative flavors in my dishes, including popcorn soup. The lunch special was affordable, and the ingredients were fresh.

Chez Delphine offers classic French food for lunch and dinner. Enjoy specials off the chalkboard menu or their regular offerings.

Felini is a small French/Italian restaurant with a delicious seasonal menu. They were full when I tried to do a walk in but I was able to secure a reservation. Felini has a few spots available at the bar and just a small amount of tables. If you sit at the bar area, you can watch the kitchen prepare the food. Everything I tried was incredible. I highly recommend securing a reservation here if you are in the area. Reservations highly recommended.

Where to Eat in the 9th Arrondissement Paris Classic French

Bouillon Chartier is just a quick walk from the Grand Boulevard. This restaurant is the perfect spot for a budget-friendly French meal in a lively atmosphere. The restaurant is easy to spot from the street because there is typically a line. They move you through fairly quickly.

If you want to try a new French dish, this is the place to do it. The prices are reasonable, and you won’t break the bank if you don’t like a dish or order multiple sharing plates for the table.

Le Bon Georges. I highly recommend making reservations here, as it is usually full. They have an outdoor terrace for guests when the weather is nice. I have eaten here twice and sat inside both times. My most recent visit was during a snowy evening in January. The wine list is one of the things that draws people in and is quite intense. Le Bon Georges has an amazing staff that will guide you through the menu and wine choices during your visit.

Pink Mamma and Pizzeria Popolare are great Italian restaurants in Paris, both part of the Big Mamma group. They didn’t take reservations in the past, but it seems that may have changed recently. The lines outside are long, but it is worth it. Try the truffle pasta and the pizza. Go with a friend so you can order one item and split it to get the best of both worlds.

Where to Eat in the 9th Arrondissement, Paris

Bistro Rougement. This was the hotel’s recommendation to stop here for lunch. The space is quaint and very Parisian. There is a small terrace for outdoor dining or tables inside. The chalkboard menu is full of seasonal specials at reasonable prices. They also have a great wine menu that they can make suggestive pairings. I ate there for both lunch and dinner, and they were fantastic.

bistro rougement 9th arrondissement Paris

Richer is just a quick walk from the hotel on rue Richer. It has a limited menu, and the portions are smaller than those of other brasseries and cafés. The food is French, and the menu changes seasonally. They have a great wine menu. The restaurant stays open until midnight, which is a great option if you need a late-night meal.

The Hoxton Hotel is a trendy spot located in the 9th arrondissement. You can stay here or enjoy the bar area for small bites and people-watching.

Brasserie Dubillot is a traditional French restaurant in the 9th arrondissement, not far from Adèle and Jules. In the spring, we had our welcome dinner there for Atlas Adventures.

Inexpensive Places to Eat in the 9th Arrondissement

Miznon Paris is a favorite of mine, and there is one that is so close to Adèle and Jules. I love their chicken pita sandwich. It’s a quick bite you can eat there or take away.

Coffee and Brunch in the 9th Arrondissement

Bon Bouquet Café I have only been here for coffee which was delicious but the brunch looks incredible and there are lines out the door even on the weekdays. There has never been a moment I have seen this place not busy.

Café Pigalle for coffee. It is a great addition to the neighborhood.

What I Packed for Paris in January 2026

Paris in January has become a yearly tradition. I use the quiet season to reboot from the previous year and plan for the year ahead. What worked, what didn’t, and where I want to grow. The cold days aren’t for everyone, but I love them. This trip fell a little later than usual, with the Sézane book party being at the end of the month. It still lets me try some new hotels at off-peak-season prices and take advantage of the sales.

You can see more of what I was up to in Paris with My Paris Agenda here.

The Weather In Paris in January

The weather in Paris in January is traditionally cold, wet, and damp. I have been in Paris for some pretty cold winters. Make sure to check the forecast if you plan to visit in January. Base layers help keep warm, such as an extra pair of leggings under your jeans or a thermal shirt under your sweater.

My Travel Uniform to Paris

I have crafted a travel uniform over the past year, and it has made life much easier. This sweater from La Ligne is so soft, warm, and cozy. (Use the code REBECCA10 for 10% off.) I have fallen in love with these high hope pants from AYR. (I own them in medium) They are not leggings, but rather an elevated sweatpant feel with pockets that work well for long-haul flights, especially overnight flights. I have arrived in Paris and feel pulled together. A T-shirt to layer under the sweater is ideal. I can remove the sweater and tie it over my shoulders if I get too warm, or when I land at CDG.

Curious how I styled everything? Check out this Substack post.

Cold Weather Accessories for Paris

My coat and Me+Em travel scarf were the MVPs of the trip. Paris was cold, especially on the day of my event. It was freezing, and I needed the extra layer of warmth.

Gloves and warm socks were also key items I packed to stay warm, especially on days when it rained nonstop.

J.Crew gloves

A travel umbrella that fits in my day bag is essential. Monoprix sells umbrellas at the entrance, and they have stores placed all over the city, so it is easy to pick up one if you forget to pack yours.

As a travel photographer, I need my camera to be secure in a zipped bag. I love my Cuyana. It has a ton of pockets to keep all my little accessories organized.

The Coat I Packed for Paris in January

the coat I packed for Paris in January

Paris in the winter is damp and cold. When I looked at the coats in my closet, I dug deep, looking at the fiber content. The coat with the highest wool content won, which was this one, a gift from Zadig and Voltaire. If you are looking for something similar for Paris, this coat is also a great option.

Boots for Paris in January

These Margaux Chelsea boots were perfect for Paris in January. It rained just about every day, and these are water-resistant. I never had to worry about getting caught in the rain and ruining my shoes. They were comfortable and sturdy, and I walked 20,000 steps a day without any issues.

Sézane red ballet flats were perfect for the warmer day in Paris. They are always sold out, and I was happy to find a pair in the store. I typically wear an 8 for shoes with Sézane.

The Sarah Flint booties are a favorite and have been in my wardrobe for a while. They are an investment, but I have worn them a good number of times to make them worth it. Perfect with skirts, dresses, and jeans.

Sweaters I Packed for Paris

sweaters I packed for Paris in January

This Frame grey button-down sweater is always a piece I reach for in my closet, and I knew I wanted to pack for Paris. REBECCA15 gets you 15% off any Frame piece.

I always like to have a warm café sweater for a very cold or rainy day. This chocolate brown sweater was what I put on after the event with jeans, and it felt so good!

Love this Alex Mill red turtleneck sweater for a pop of color.

Sézane Paris Book Party Outfit

For the Sézane event, I was originally going to wear these heels, but a community member saw my outfit preview and recommended booties instead. This was a smart move, and I’m happy I swapped. I walked from my hotel to the store, and that wasn’t happening in heels. The booties are great for standing for long periods, and I was able to walk a few miles in them without issue.

I was in a skirt and blouse for the event and needed tights. This Lou bag was perfect for my phone and lipstick for the event.

Beauty Bag for Paris

Before Paris, I did BBL and Moxie, which meant my skincare routine was very simple. I packed this Avène cleanser and moisturizer. Sunscreen was a non-negotiable.

I had a blowout before I left for Paris and scheduled one for my return, so my hair was taken care of. In my cadence capsules, I packed my Roz shampoo to refresh my bangs every day, along with this travel hair brush. This is a product I know, love, and trust. The hotel has great products, too, but I know how my hair will react to this shampoo.

Eye patches and this eye mask for before the event and shoot to reduce puffiness from flying.

I love the scent of Evolve Together deodorants and always keep one in my travel bag.

Beauty I packed for Paris in January

Simple Makeup for Paris

I find the Merit Foundation Stick and Brush the easiest for applying makeup. It goes on easily, and this color suits me well. For blush, Iris and Romeo English Rose. I also love their Weekend Skin, which I use regularly in Paris under makeup before foundation. It provides SPF protection and a subtle glow. Mascara is Sisley Paris, and I always have a lip gloss from Merit in my bag. For the event, I wore this Sisley lipstick.

Paris makeup
weekend skin iris and romeo

Pilates Clothes for Paris

I packed Pilates clothes in hopes of making it to a class, and it worked! Paris Pilates Society is owned by my friend Jennifer, and I signed up for a weekend class. Third Love just released a new TempSync bra and pants that I packed for Paris, along with a tank top.

Paris Photo Shoot Clothes

Boden skirt and Sézane sweater

Katie Donnelly and I shot a few looks for Valentine’s Day in Paris. We lucked out with the weather that day; it was warm enough to go without a coat for a bit. Plus, we had a little sunshine.

I wore this Boden skirt with this sweater and these red flats. The whole outfit is adorable and so much fun.

Another Boden sweater with Frame jeans and red flats.

For the third look, which was also from Boden, a pink dress, we layered a Zadig and Voltaire grey coat on top for part of the shoot.

The Bra that Saved Me

I wore this Eby bra on the flight over. It is wire-free and perfect for a long flight. My friend, Tam, was helping me finalize my outfit for Sézane over text, and she asked if I had a black bra instead!? I panicked. After dinner, I realized I did have one. This Eby bra is what I wore under my blouse to the Sézane event, and it worked great.

What I Packed for Paris And Didn’t Use

I anticipated colder temperatures and packed this Uniqlo jacket to wear under my coat, and it never left the suitcase.

For an evening bag, I packed this mini bag from Cuyana, and I didn’t end up using it. I was typically out all day, so I just had my Cuyana tote with me instead.

I thought I might use this AYR button-down as a layering piece under a sweater, but I didn’t wear it. Also, I packed one too many Frame jeans for the trip. These black jeans are great, but I only needed two pairs, and I already packed a medium- and a dark-wash pair of the Palazzo denim from Frame. Two pairs of jeans are plenty for 5/6 nights to rotate.

Suitcases and Longchamp Bag

what I packed for Paris in January

I ended up using two suitcases because I carried books, Girl Scout cookies, and a few other things from the US. This allowed me more room for the way home. For extra purchases, I like using this Longchamp foldable bag that expands and can hold a good amount for the trip home.

Where to Stay in Paris

The question I keep getting from friends and readers is: where should I stay in Paris? I have written posts on this topic over the years, but I have never compiled a master list of the different types of hotels for different budgets and trip types. This blog post covers the best neighborhoods in Paris, where to stay as a solo traveler, budget-friendly options, off-the-beaten-path spots, and recommendations for first-time visitors. Once you have booked your plane or train reservation, the next question should be where to stay in Paris.

Where to stay in Paris boutique hotels

How Paris is Arranged

Paris is divided into 20 neighborhoods, called arrondissements, arranged on the map like a snail. The arrondissements with the lowest numbers are closer to the center, and the higher numbers are farther from the Seine. Each neighborhood has a unique vibe, making the arrondissement distinctive. The Seine River divides the city into the Right and Left Banks. Parisians and visitors usually have very strong opinions about which bank they prefer. If it is your first time in Paris, form your opinion on which bank you like best. There is no wrong answer.

first time visit to Paris where to stay

It is common for Parisians to stay in their neighborhood to meet friends, grocery shop, have coffee, and dine out. Each arrondissement has cafés, restaurants, butchers, bakeries, and everything you need within a short walk.

Metro stations throughout the city give visitors and locals easy access to Paris’ monuments, main attractions, and parks. The metro and bus systems are easy to navigate. This post breaks down how to get around Paris in more detail. I have also broken down the best bus lines to take in The Paris Guide for more in-depth information on navigating the city.

The Best Paris Neighborhoods for First-Time Visitors

the best neighborhoods in Paris for first time visitors

When visiting Paris for the first time, you will most likely want to be in the city’s center. Take this opportunity to be close to the museums, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, and the Eiffel Tower. The best neighborhoods for a first-time visitor are on both the Left Bank and the Right Bank. It all depends on what you want to be closest to and your priority.

Paris Hotels in the 1st Arrondissement

grand hotel du palais royal everyday parisian

The heart of Paris beats in the 1st Arrondissement. If you can stay in this area on your first visit, you will be well situated in the city center and a quick walk away from the most popular tourist attractions. The Louvre Museum and the Jardin des Tuileries are here. Expect higher prices because the hotel location is prime in the 1st arrondissement.

Paris travel tips

Splurge Options: I personally love the Grand Hotel du Palais Royal. It is one of my favorite hotels in Paris and offers incredible views from the suites, including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.

The location is just a few minutes’ walk to Palais Royal, one of my favorite places in Paris.

Tuileries Paris where to stay

Chateau Voltaire Hotel in the 1st Arrondissement in Paris

One of my new favorite hotels is Hotel Château Voltaire. I stayed here in January 2024 and want to share my experience with everyone. The attention to detail and service were at the next level. Located on Avenue de l’Opéra, you are well situated within walking distance to Palais Royal, The Louvre, and Tuileries. Don’t miss out on lunch at Brasserie L’Emil or a cocktail at the bar.

chateau voltaire

Budget-Friendly Hotels: Hotel Therese in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris

Budget-Friendly Options: Hotel Therese is the sister hotel of Adele and Jules ( a reader favorite). The hotels are within walking distance of the Louvre and offer reasonable rates in the first arrondissement.

There are multiple metro lines from here to other parts of the city, including the Trocadero, where you can see the Eiffel Tower and the Musée D’Orsay. I love to walk around the city as much as possible, and it is the best way to see Paris.

Paris Hotels in the 2nd Arrondissement

The 2nd arrondissement is a central location to stay in Paris. One of my favorite streets, Rue Montorgueil, is perfect for a cocktail, a glass of wine, or an afternoon stroll. The pedestrian street, filled with food shops, has evolved since I first fell in love with it over ten years ago, and now houses more commercial chain shops. You can identify the street by the mosaic white tiles that glisten in the rain.

The best hotels in this area are still within walking distance of the Louvre Hotel and Place Vendome.

Place Vendome at Christmas

Splurge: Park Hyatt Paris. This hotel, with views of the Tuileries and Place Vendôme, is perfectly located for a first-time visit to Paris. Hyatt members, you will want to upgrade here to a Paris balcony.

Maison Barrière Vendôme is located in the 1st arrondissement and is centrally located for the Tuileries, shopping on Rue St. Honoré, and museums such as Jeu de Paume and Hôtel de la Marine. I have a stay booked here soon and will be back with my full recap.

Kimpton St Honore, I had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights when it first opened. The rooms are high-tech, with window shades that open with a button. Inside rooms have quiet balcony views of the courtyard, and the exterior rooms face onto the Boulevards des Capucines. Don’t miss the rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city and the Eiffel Tower. You are also within a quick walk of the Opera. They also have a dog brunch on the first Sunday of every month.

Hoxton Paris The Hoxton Paris is a great place to stay in the 2nd arrondissement. It is a bit tucked away from the main attractions, but it is still walkable. You will be a mix of restaurants and shops, feeling like a local. Don’t miss the Sézane apartment around the corner to do some shopping. You can enjoy a cocktail at the bar even if you don’t stay here.

Hotel Hana Paris 2nd Arrondissement Boutique Hotel

hotel hana paris balcony

Hotel Hana is fairly new and a great option for a centrally located Paris hotel. The hotel is a five-star hotel with a Japanese-French mix. Don’t miss the hotel restaurant Hanabi for a delicious lunch or dinner. I enjoyed two nights here last year and splurged for the balcony, which was totally worth it. The detox massage in their beautiful spa was memorable, but their staff and hospitality were not.

Paris Hotels in the 3rd Arrondissement

The 3rd Arrondissement is home to the Marais, one of my favorite parts of Paris. It is centrally located and contains some of the oldest buildings in Paris. The Marais is also known for incredible restaurants, coffee shops, and shops. You can easily spend a good amount of time exploring this area without leaving the arrondissement.

Explore Square du Temple and book an afternoon at the Picasso Museum.

Grand Mazarin is a newly opened hotel in the Marais. It was under construction and delayed, but the wait was well worth it. The decor is bright and wild, but somehow, they make it work well. Some of the hotel rooms have balconies, and I highly recommend upgrading.

Pavillon de la Reine Paris Marais Hôtel

Pavillon de la Reine Paris

Pavillon de la Reine is a boutique hotel gem located inside Place des Vosges. It is easy to walk by the hotel if you don’t know it is there. The hotel courtyard is stunning in different seasons, with green vines in spring, jasmine-filled balconies in summer, and red ivy in fall. Pavillon de la Reine will make your stay memorable with personalized service. Don’t miss a visit to their one star Michelin restaurant, Anne.

Where to Stay in Paris for the First Time: The 4th Arrondissement in Paris

paris rue des rosiers

The Marais is split between the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. The vibe in both areas is similar, and they are especially buzzing on Sundays. In the past, Paris closed most of its shops on Sundays. The Marais is also the Jewish quarter, with restaurants and shops closed on Saturdays for Shabbat. Sundays are full of music, overflowing cafés, and so much energy from locals and tourists.

For a 3-star budget-friendly hotel in the heart of the 4th arrondissement in Paris, check out Caron de Beaumarchais. It has unique decor, but what makes this property special is its location and front balcony views. There aren’t many front-room balconies, so book early and be flexible with dates if you want this hotel. The secret is out on this one. I have heard positive reviews from readers, and breakfast is one of my favorites. Have it delivered to your room for a balcony breakfast you will remember for years.

Hotels in Paris: The 5th Arrondissement

Located on the Left Bank of Paris, the 5th arrondissement provides a different experience. The Latin Quarter, which includes the Pantheon, Jardin des Plantes, and Shakespeare and Co., is a popular destination for visitors because of its location.

jardin des plantes in the spring Paris

Hotel Monge is a lovely hotel located just steps from Jardin des Plantes. I stayed in this hotel a few years ago when it first opened and loved the decor and the nod to the gardens. You will find markets, coffee shops, and boulangeries surrounding the hotel to make you feel like a local. It is centrally located but tucked away just enough.

hotel monge Paris hotel in the 5th arrondissement

Hôtel Dame des Arts is a newly opened hotel in the 5th arrondissement. The rooms are small, but the views make up for it. You can’t beat the rooftop view and the Eiffel Tower from your balcony. If you are staying in the area, book a rooftop cocktail for sunset.

Hotel dame des Arts Paris Hotel in the 5th arrondissement

Paris Hotels in The 6th Arrondissement

Villa des Pres Paris 6th arrondissement hotel

Villa des Prés is a newly opened hotel in the 6th arrondissement in Paris, just off Rue de Buci. For Left Bank lovers, the location couldn’t be beat. You are perfectly tucked away with a discreet entrance. It is easy to pass by the hotel if you don’t know it is there. The lobby is small and welcoming, with a breakfast area and a bar for coffee and cocktails. Villa des Prés decor is more masculine, with browns and leathers mixed in with art in every room. Restaurants, bars, and art galleries surround the hotel, making so much of what Paris offers within walking distance.

Villa des Pres

Don’t miss Luxembourg Gardens, situated between the sixth and seventh arrondissements.

Luxembourg gardens Paris

Hotel des Grands Voyageurs is tucked away in the 6th arrondissement. The hotel pays attention to the details of the traveler. I enjoyed my stay here and upgraded to a Junior Suite, the highest room category. Hotel des Grands Voyageurs is a great value. I loved my room’s record players and jazz offerings, which were an added feature. The hotel offers connecting family rooms with privacy doors. If you need two rooms, this is an excellent option for the price, location, and updated amenities.

Where to Stay in Paris: The 7th Arrondissement

Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain is located in the 7th Arrondissement. The hotel is a combination of three buildings. One has been under renovation, while the other two are modern but don’t look exactly like the photo below. You can request your room type when booking. I highly recommend a balcony view. If you mention EDP when booking, you will have a special amenity. Update, the hotel continues to update rooms and rennovate every year. This continues to be a personal favorite of mine.

pavillon faubourg saint germain

From this Left Bank location, you can walk to the Louvre in 10 minutes or explore everything the area has to offer. Boulevard St Germain des Près, coffee shops, and boutiques are also just a quick walk away.

Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain Paris Boutique Hotel

Check out this post to explore Saint-Germain-des-Prés one of the most popular neighborhoods in Paris.

Le Grand Hotel Cayré on Boulevard Raspail is centurally located for exploring the 7th arrondissement. I have stayed at this hotel several times in 2025 and happy to recommend it to friends and family looking for a Left Bank hotel. The hotel is newly refurbished with modern bathrooms and decor. Some rooms offer a balcony view looking onto the Parisian rooftops and are worth the upgrade. Le Grand Hotel Cayré also offers a handful of rooms with an Eiffel Tower view.

Le Narcisse Blanc is a five-star hotel on the Left Bank between Pont Alexandre III and the Eiffel Tower. It is a quiet boutique hotel perfect for couples or solo travelers. Enjoy a coffee or breakfast in the stunning glass-filled atrium just off the lobby. Cleo, the hotel restaurant, is perfect for lunch or dinner. While this has been a reader favorite for years and one of the most booked hotels, I have found it to be in need of some updates and feels dated after a recent visit.

Paris Hotels with Eiffel Tower Views

If this is your first time in Paris or you are celebrating a special occasion such as an anniversary, birthday, or girls’ trip, you might want an Eiffel Tower view. This is a popular request, and I hope more hotels make booking easier, as it doesn’t always show the view or identify that an Eiffel Tower view is guaranteed.

La Comtesse Paris.

Hotel Comtesse is a boutique hotel just around the corner from the Eiffel Tower. The location is excellent if you want an Eiffel Tower view and to be situated in this part of Paris. I stayed here one night a few summers ago to check out the hotel and the view. I loved that you could book an Eiffel Tower view exclusively with the hotel. There was an upcharge, and I stayed in a Prestige Room, which was worth it. You can have a side view or a head-on view. On my first trip to Paris, I was convinced I would have a view of the Eiffel Tower, but it wasn’t within my budget. Now, I am on the hunt for budget-friendly options for other travelers.

Hotel Grand Powers Paris Luxury Hotel

Hotel Grand Powers is the sister hotel of Grand Hotel du Palais Royal in the 8th arrondissement. They remodeled in 2019 to move from a 4 to a 5-star hotel. The remodel is stunning and takes the historical Parisian details to a different level. Every room is stunning, and the views of the Eiffel Tower and Paris rooftops are magical. The hotel is located close to the Champs-Élysées for travelers looking for that specific location.

Maison Mère is located in the 9th arrondissement. I have stayed here multiple times. The staff is extremely friendly, warm, and welcoming. The rooms are clean and well-equipped with everything you need for a modern stay in Paris, including charging outlets and a tech-focused room. Some of the rooms even have balconies and views of the Eiffel Tower.

Adèle and Jules. Paris Hotel in the 9th Arrondissement

I had the opportunity to stay at Adèle and Jules multiple times and loved the experience each time. It is made up of two buildings: one is Adèle, and the other is Jules. The staff is helpful with restaurant recommendations and neighborhood activities. There is breakfast in the lobby, tea time, and an honesty bar. The street the hotel is on is a quiet, family-friendly street. You will sleep soundly and comfortably. Room 44 was the one I stayed in, and there was plenty of space for two people. Great for couples or friends. They could accommodate a large group in individual rooms.

The 9th Arrondissement isn’t for everyone; I love it because there are so many great restaurants, and it feels more like a local experience. The location is just enough away from the Paris monuments and the city center, filled with tourists. Check out this guide to the 9th arrondissement for more places to explore.

A Guide to Saint-Germain-des-Prés

a guide to Saint Germain des Prés

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a historic neighborhood located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. You will find classic cafés, boutiques, patisseries, and art galleries here. The iconic neighborhood offers Parisian charm and should not be missed. While I am a Right Bank Lover, my husband prefers the Left Bank. Over the years, I have become increasingly fond of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood. After several visits to the neighborhood, I decided to write a guide to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, one of my favorite spots.

Where Saint-Germain-des-Prés is Located in Paris

Paris is a large, bustling city with much to do, see, and explore. You can stay in one arrondissement and experience each neighborhood as a local over a weekend or even a week.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is on the Left Bank of Paris between the Latin Quarter and the 7th arrondissement.

Where to stay in Paris in Saint Germain des Prés

Where to Stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

I love boutique hotels and have enjoyed a few over the years. I recommend these as places to stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs is located tucked away in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It is excellent for solo travelers, couples, or families. The hotel’s configuration allows two rooms to be connected by a single door for privacy. Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs has 138 rooms and was recently renovated. It has dreamy tiled bathrooms with Diptyque bath products and views of Parisian rooftops. For extra space, opt for a Deluxe or Junior Suite, which includes a desk if you work remotely. Note: this is a great option for those looking for connecting rooms for a family in Paris.

Villa des Prés is a boutique luxury hotel of just 34 rooms in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Use this as your home base as you discover the Left Bank of Paris, with many restaurants, cafés, and shops just outside the front door.

Villa des Pres Paris Saint Germain des Pres where to stay

Relais Christine is a boutique hotel on Rue Christine tucked away from the lively Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood. In the summer, enjoy the beautiful courtyard covered in jasmine. The lobby has a working fireplace, an honesty bar, and a delicious breakfast buffet.

Boutique Hotels in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain is a personal favorite hotel of mine, and it is truly a home away from home, thanks to its service and attention to detail. This is also my husband’s favorite hotel when he joins me for trips. Enjoy an evening of jazz and cocktails at their bar, James Joyce, for an evening. Enjoy the lobby and fireplace in the winter for a cozy place to relax. In warmer months, enjoy a meal or cocktail on the hotel’s exterior terrace.

Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain Paris Boutique Hotel

Le Grand Hôtel Cayré is on Boulevard Raspail and is one of the newest hotels in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood. Rooms have city views, and suites have views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I had the pleasure of staying here a few times and really enjoyed it. This is one of the hotels I recommend most to friends looking for a place in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. I highly recommend getting a balcony or city view. It is an additional cost, but the view over Saint-Germain-des-Prés is stunning. The sun rises in this direction, so you can catch a colorful early morning sunrise. I slept with my blackout shades pulled back so I could wake naturally to the sun.

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia is a Palace Hotel (the only one on the Left Bank), steeped in history. I have not stayed here yet, but it is on my list. The hotel is located just across from Bon Marché and is ideal for Left Bank lovers. Enjoy jazz and classic craft cocktails at Bar Josephine to experience The Lutetia.

How to Get to Saint-Germain-des-Prés

There are a few key metro lines. Lines 4 and 10 on the metro will take you to the Odeon metro line or Saint Germain-des-Prés. You can also take the bus and use CityMapper for more in-depth directions and the exact bus. I love walking and think it is one of the best ways to see the city. You can easily cross the Pont des Arts in front of the Louvre museum and end up on the Left Bank quickly.

What to do in Saint Germain des Prés

Saint Germain des Prés is one of the best areas to spend an afternoon. Stroll the art galleries down Rue de Seine and stop for a glass of wine at the classic La Palette. It is one of the lively cafés in the neighborhood, and it offers great people-watching. Plus, it is open late for a nightcap after dinner.

Classic Cafés to Visit in Paris

paris left bank classics everyday parisian

Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore are two of the most famous cafes right next to each other on Boulevard Saint-Germain. You should visit one of these cafés at least once to experience the Paris classic café scene. They are classic cafés full of Paris’s rich history. You can expect lines to form outside for a table, especially during peak times. In the winter, their hot chocolate is a highlight. Try a Parisian breakfast of a café crème and a tartine at Les Deux Magots or a glass of wine in the evening. Either spot offers excellent people-watching at any time of day. I love watching the fashion trends from a café terrace in any season.

A guide to Saint Germain des Prés

Other classic spots in the neighborhood include Le Procope and Café Bonaparte on Rue Bonaparte just behind Les Deux Magots. Le Procope is considered the oldest café in Paris, with a rich history and a classic French menu. Dine inside or on the cobblestone private terrace courtyard, perfectly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood.

Paris Café Madame

Café Madame is near Luxembourg Gardens and just across from Marin Montagut, a favorite spot for souvenirs. The shop is located on Rue Madame and is closed on the weekends, so plan accordingly.

Where to Sip Craft Coffee Spots in St Germain des Prés

I love the craft coffee movement in Paris. Coffee shops are popping up all over the city. Some coffee shops offer a great spot to sit and rest your feet with coffee between sightseeing. Other spots are tiny kiosks offering only takeaway coffee, such as Café Nuances and Cody’s Coffee.

Coutume Coffee Paris

Shakespeare and Co. has a coffee shop just next door that offers coffee and pastries. The shop has seating inside and a small terrace outside with a view of Notre Dame.

Grab a coffee at Le Café du Clown and enjoy it on their outside terrace, or take it to go.

Where to Eat in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Chez Fernand on Rue Christine offers classic French cuisine in a picturesque dining room with red-and-white checkered tablecloths. The chalkboard specials are delicious and move quickly at the start of each service. Classics such as beef bourguignon are not to be missed. I enjoy lunch here with a good book, a journal, and wine.

Chez Bartolo is an Italian restaurant on a side street in Saint Germain des Prés, serving pizza and pasta.

Localino has been a favorite of mine for the past few years. Enjoy fresh, homemade seasonal pasta in an intimate setting, inspired by Odeon and Luxembourg Gardens. Reservations are recommended. The tiny terrace offers a few seats facing the streets of Paris, great for solo diners, couples, and small groups.

Classic French Brasseries in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Brasserie des Prés offers classic French dishes made with seasonal, local ingredients. Dine inside or outside on the terrace for lunch or dinner. This restaurant group provides seating for large groups upon request with online reservations.

Brasserie des Prés where to eat in Saint Germain des Prés

Freddy’s is located on Rue de Seine. It offers wine and small bites with a seasonal chalkboard menu. Seats can be hard to come by, depending on the time of day. It is great for solo travelers and small groups.

Café Varenne is a perfect stop before or after the Rodin museum or the D’Orsay. Enjoy lunch inside this classic and cozy Parisian café or on the terrace. Don’t miss the chalkboard menu specials. (closed on Sundays)

Akabeko is a Japanese-French fusion restaurant offering a tasting menu for lunch and dinner. Book a reservation here and enjoy a delicious, beautiful meal with incredible service. My husband and I had our birthday lunch here and splurged for the wine pairings. (They make adjustments for allergies and dietary restrictions)

Where to eat in Saint Germain des Prés

L’Avant Comptoir has been a favorite of mine since 2013. The menu hangs from the ceiling and offers small bites, and the wine bar offers small producers. I love spending a late afternoon or solo evening here. The space is small, so expect to get to know your neighbors and strike up a conversation. Take the wine and food recommendations from the knowledgeable and passionate staff.

Barthélémy Cheese Shop is a woman-owned business offering a wide variety of delicious French cheeses. They will even vacuum-seal it for you if you want to take home butter or cheese without making a trip to La Grand Épiciere.

The Google map here offers a longer list of favorite places to eat in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Paris Markets to Discover in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Marché Saint-Germain is a covered market in Paris that offers fruits, vegetables, cheese, and more. It is open daily except Monday. I loved discovering this little gem I had overlooked for many years.

Visit Luxembourg Gardens

Luxembourg Gardens (Jardin du Luxembourg) is one of the most iconic parks on the Left Bank of Paris. The flowers and colors change with each season, reflecting the landscaping. The Luxembourg Gardens are beautiful year-round. In the early morning, you will find empty green chairs and a few visitors enjoying the garden, sitting near the fountain or running across the grounds. The gardens quickly fill up with visitors and locals. It is one of the best things to do on a sunny day in Paris.

what to do in Saint Germain des Prés

Bring a picnic lunch and a good book for lunchtime. This is an ideal place for kids to burn off some energy. The park rents wooden boats to push across the fountain and provides entertainment.

You can even spot the Eiffel Tower from the center of Luxembourg Gardens, one of my favorite views.

Food and Souvenir Shops in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Bon Marché Paris Where to Shop in Saint Germain des Prés

Le Bon Marché, located on Rue de Sèvres, is a landmark Paris department store. Each floor has a dedicated specialty, from perfume and French beauty to luxury fashion brands for men and women. My husband loves the bottom floor for men’s shoes. Le Bon Marché does an excellent job with artistic displays and rotating seasonal themes. This is a must-stop during the Christmas season.

La Grand Épiciere is a grocery store owned by the department store Le Bon Marché. It is worth visiting to see the incredible French foods offered throughout the store, from chocolates, teas, and spices as souvenirs to their fantastic selection of meats, cheeses, and yogurts. The store also offers a variety of French butter options that can be vacuum-sealed and packed for your trip home.

Hemispheres Tea Shop is a stunning, female-owned French tea shop next to Café Varenne. It is the perfect spot to shop for a souvenir or bring a gift home for a tea lover.

Shops Not to Miss in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Marin Montagut offers a wide variety of giftable items for souvenirs. They are experts at wrapping glass and other fragile items for your carry-on. I have purchased several of their small dishes and glasses over the years. You can also purchase paper journals and tea towels, which are easier to pack. You can find Marin Montagut at Bergdorf Goodman, but the prices are much higher in the US.

Soeur, APC, Sandro, and Maje are all classic French clothing brands with locations in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Social media has helped make Officine Universelle Buly popular over the past few years. The flagship location is on Rue Bonaparte, and it is worth visiting to see the beautiful French beauty products on display. You can monogram a comb or select a rose-scented hand cream or new Parisian perfume to bring home.

The original Diptyque boutique is located at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It truly is a beautiful display of candles and perfumes. The staff is friendly, warm, and happy to help you shop for the perfect scent.

Sézane has multiple locations in Paris. A small boutique on Rue du Bac offers women’s and a small selection of men’s fashion. The store staff can help locate additional sizes at other Paris locations, including Le Bon Marché just down the street.

Biologique Recherche has a cult following for its facials and beauty products. Book a facial here, just steps from the entrance of Luxembourg Gardens. Don’t be surprised if you fall asleep during the treatment. I always do! You will need to bring a passport photo to claim the VAT refund on their products.

Caudalie is a well-known French beauty brand sold in pharmacies all over Paris and the United States. Get personalized recommendations from their trained staff. Complete Paris Winter Packing List + Style Tips Updated 2026

Packing for Paris in the winter is very different from packing for other cold-weather cities. The city is cold and damp, and you are walking more than usual. Layering is key to staying warm throughout the day as you explore the city and duck into cafés to escape the rain or to warm up in between sightseeing. After spending many winters in Paris – from November through February – this is the packing list I use to stay warm and comfortable while exploring my favorite city.

When it comes to Paris, most people think of spring and cherry blossoms, or of seeing the city in the fall. Don’t underestimate the winter months in Paris. If you are looking for fewer tourists, fewer crowds, and a more local experience, booking a trip early in the year is a good idea. There are some great options for less expensive hotel rooms. You can also splurge on a higher-category hotel room at a better rate in the off-season. Save this post for ideas on what to pack for Paris in the winter.

Whether you are visiting Paris for Christmas in December or for a quiet January escape, this post covers everything from coats and boots to accessories that make traveling and packing for Paris so much easier.

My Paris Winter Packing List

This Paris winter packing list covers everything you need to stay warm, stylish (looking like a Parisian), and comfortable while walking, sightseeing, and exploring.

If you’re planning a winter trip to Paris, I also share my favorite neighborhoods and boutique hotels in my Where to Stay in Paris post. It is what I send friends and readers when they ask for my personal recommendations.

Paris Winter Forecast

A winter trip to Paris can be a great time of year to experience the city. Expect average temperatures in the ’30s and ’40s F during the colder months. Paris’s winter weather may even bring a few snowflakes if you are lucky. It rarely snows in Paris, but when it does, it is magical as long as you don’t have any place to be. I was lucky to have snow on my latest trip to Paris in January. The roads and rooftops were dusty with snow, and the city had an exciting energy. January is one of the coldest months of the year and the best chance for snow. Winter days are short, with sunrise around 9 am and sunset around 4:30.

Keeping warm in Paris in the winter is all about layers. You can look stylish and warm simultaneously with a few key pieces.

What to Pack for Paris in November

November in Paris is the shoulder season and one of my favorite times to visit the city. Kids are back to school, and tourism is a little slower than in the fall season. You can still get away with a lighter coat and a few key layers of a scarf and a hat. Sweaters and boots are key to keeping you warm from head to toe.

What to Pack for Paris In December

December is filled with holiday magic around every corner. A pop of red isn’t necessary, but festive. For New Year’s festivities, a little black dress or a sparkly one.

What to Expect in Paris in the Winter

The Christmas markets run from late November to early January, depending on the market. Most of the larger markets and holiday lights will be up for the early parts of the new year. You will see Christmas decorations and lights up if you visit in January. The energy of Christmas will be replaced with quiet streets and cafés, but the decorations and lights will still make the city feel festive.  You can find hot wine (vin chaud) or hot chocolate to keep warm as you explore the city of lights. Stroll the streets of Paris and people-watch at cafés to warm up.

What Shoes to Pack and What to Wear for Paris in the Winter

what shoes to wear in Paris in the winter

Warm socks are essential with winter boots. Go for Chelsea ankle boots or waterproof boots when planning for cold temperatures. If you are looking for packing tips for a carry-on, wear your biggest boots on the plane. In the winter months, you won’t be changing out of shoes very often. Choose winter boots that are comfortable and stylish, and go with anything. Brown or black boots should do the trick. I did notice a lot of Parisian women wearing black boots over brown ones, which made me regret packing my brown boots.

Two favorite boots right now are these Chelsea Boots from Margaux and these from Larroudé. The Chelsea boots from Margaux are great for snow and rain with water-repellent suede. Size up at least half a size. I am normally an 8.5 and took a 9. They take some breaking in, so make sure to walk around a bit before you take them for long walks in Paris.

Paris long wool coat and sneakers winter look for Paris

If the weather isn’t too cold, Parisians will wear sneakers on the weekends. You will want comfortable shoes for walking around the city. These Vejas are a good choice and a popular brand and style for Parisian women and men. For an affordable option, I love these from Madewell. Just make sure you break them in before you leave for your trip.

Winter Coats to Pack for Paris

A winter coat is a must, and I have seen most Parisian women wearing long wool coats. You will see black, navy, and camel colors in Parisian fashion. Leave the trench coat at home for the warmer months. It will be perfect for spring. The cold weather will require you to have a warmer jacket. Check out this coat edit here for ideas. I would most likely pack this coat or this coat if I were packing for Paris in January. Parisian style for winter includes Chelsea boots, a scarf, and a wool coat. These are the most important things to keep warm.

Chunky Knits for Paris in the Winter

what to pack for Paris in the winter

Turtleneck sweaters, chunky knits, and cardigans are all great pieces to have as extra layers to keep warm. A chunky knit would have been ideal for the cold weather in Paris. I did spend a few spare moments inside shops looking at sweaters, but eventually left empty-handed. My sweater collection at home is quite large, and I didn’t have much room to bring one home. I call the perfect sweater for Paris a café sweater, ideal for keeping warm on cold or rainy days. You should be able to see yourself staying cozy on a terrace or inside a Parisian café with this knit.

Tights for Paris in the Winter

Tights in Paris. Parisian trend for winter

Tights are very trendy in Paris right now. You will see most women in skirts or dresses with a pair of black tights. This is one of my favorite brands to buy in the US, and they hold up so well. If you want to buy tights in Paris, Sézane has an affordable pair, and I typically buy mine at Calzedonia, which has several locations in Paris.

Paris fashion tights

If all else fails and you feel you are not dressed to Paris style standards, you can duck into department stores such as Galeries Lafayette or Bon Marché to pick up a new coat or scarf. I love Sézane, which has a few locations, but I prefer the one in the 9th arrondissement.

I have a PDF that I have put together a complete list with everything you need to pack for Paris in the winter. It is free, and you can download my Paris packing list here.

You will need warm gloves and a travel umbrella. Paris’s weather always has rain in the forecast at some point. I prefer to have a travel umbrella in my bag when I am out, just in case. The hotels and apartments typically will give you a larger umbrella, which becomes a pain if you are out and about all day.

You can check out my favorite Paris boutique hotels in this post.

P.S. I always recommend travel insurance when heading out of the country and prefer Faye Travel Insurance.

What to Pack for Paris in December

Paris in December is one of the most magical times to visit Paris. The city is filled with festive lights and decorations for the Christmas season. I highly recommend adding Paris during the holidays to your must-see list. If you are traveling to Paris in December or know someone who is, please share this post. Here is what to pack for Paris in December.

What to Pack for Paris in December

The Weather in Paris in December

Dress warmly and in layers! Paris can be extremely cold in December, with a chance of snow if you are lucky. The weather is damp and chilly. Check the weather in advance before you pack and plan accordingly. I always recommend packing a travel umbrella just in case, and hand warmers are not a bad idea. You can purchase them in Paris, but it’s also easy to throw them in your suitcase and have them ready to go as you walk out to explore.

What to Expect in Paris in December

Parisian Cafés and boulangeries often decorate their interiors and exteriors with holiday lights. You will see a beautiful display all over the city filled with Christmas cheer. In patisserie windows, Bouche de Noël in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. You can purchase a small one to taste, or bring home a large one to your Paris apartment to share with friends and family. Oysters are sold outside of grocery stores, from the fanciest of stores to the corner grocery. Champagne and chocolates are also available at a variety of price points to celebrate the season and make great gifts.

What to See in Paris in December

Don’t miss the Christmas holiday markets in December. There are a few different ones that run throughout the city. Outside Notre Dame, there is a small market with food and handmade items, and Saint-Germain-des-Prés also has a Christmas market that runs along the street outside the church.

Christmas trees Bon Marche Paris

The Department Stores such as Galeries Lafayette and Bon Marché decorate for the Christmas season. Inside, you will find beautiful displays in the center of the store. Don’t miss the holiday windows at Bon Marché, a favorite and must-see stop when I am in town over the Christmas season. Warm up at Le Grand Épiciere, browse the seasonal foods for purchase, and pick up take-home souvenirs. You can pick up your French butter here, too!

Coats For Paris in December

Long Wool coats are best for keeping warm in Paris during cold weather. This scarf coat, this navy coat, and this belted coat are all great options.

I highly recommend one of these Uniqlo layering jackets for additional warmth on really cold days. Trust me!

The Best Shoes to Pack for Paris in December

what to pack for Paris in December

Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Due to the weather in December, I highly recommend a water-resistant or waterproof boot. These Chelsea boots from Margaux are my favorite and are comfortable. It is what I have been wearing the most in Chicago, even in the snow. Black ankle boots are trending among Parisian women right now and are a strong shoe option. For boots, thick warm socks are a must! Pack extra just in case they get wet, and you want to refresh a pair.

Knee-high black boots with dresses and skirts are also popular on the streets of Paris. I own these from Laroudé after seeing this as the hot trend last December. I knew it was something I wanted to invest in for my wardrobe. Margaux also offers a similar pair, the City Boot.

Dressing Up In Paris in December

cocktails in Paris

If you are headed to Paris in December, don’t forget to pack a little black dress. Even if you are solo, I highly recommend taking yourself out to dinner, a cocktail, or a fancy tea for at least one day. If a little black dress isn’t your thing, I love a little sparkle like this top with a black velvet blazer and coated jeans. You could also try a silk skirt like this one, booties, and a sweater. For a pop of red, try this reader-favorite skirt.

Cold Weather Accessories for Paris in the Winter Months

Warm gloves are a must. If, for some reason, you forget to pack yours, you can pick up a good pair at Galeries Lafayette or Bon Marché. These make a great souvenir if you forgot yours, so don’t panic. I have been eyeing these from Me+Em lately; they are beautiful fashion accessories. You can also consider wool or cashmere gloves to keep your hands warm.

black tights in paris

Boots and black tights are very much a thing in Paris. You will see this trend across the board. I love buying tights from Calzedonia or Sézane when I am in Paris. Both are reasonably priced, and Calzedonia has some fun options!

Black tights and Boots Paris

I love these Sarah Flint perfect zip booties for dressing up, but still being comfortable.

Sweaters for Paris in December

chunky knits for Paris

Cashmere sweaters and wool are ideal for the cold weather. Chunky knits are ideal. I always recommend packing a café sweater. Something extra warm and cozy for a cold or rainy day, to sit inside and soak up Paris from the window. I love this Alex Mill turtleneck sweater.

What Not to Pack for Paris in December

Leave the high heels at home; the cobblestone streets make walking difficult. You will be much more comfortable with flat boots or a block heel this time of year. You will want a warm coat; see the details and ideas above. A trench coat or leather coat will not be warm enough in Paris this time of year.

What to Pack for The Plane Ride to Paris

I love to be comfortable on a flight, but I don’t typically wear athleisure wear or pajamas. Yes, it is an overnight flight, and I want to be cozy, but you can still look and feel pulled together. My travel uniform includes these AYR pants, a white t-shirt, and a sweater. I love this one from La Ligne, which has been on multiple Paris flights. This sweater from Kilte is also a great option and is made of washable cashmere. For socks, I do the Bombas compression socks and boots. If you are checking a bag and have room, you can throw your boots in there and wear sneakers. I find that when moving around the airport and walking, you want to be comfortable.

Me+Em Scarf

For December, a travel cashmere scarf is ideal. This one from White and Warren or Me+Em is a favorite. You won’t regret this extra layer for warmth, and you can use it under your coat as you are out and about in Paris, too.

white and warren scarf

P.S. I also love this silk AYR button-down that makes a great layering piece.

You can see my long-haul travel uniform formula here. Everything I pack for an international flight.

My whole family loves Away suitcases, and my husband has a strict rule not to check a bag. I use the larger carry-on bag from Away, which fits in the overhead bin on my United flight. If you have questions about sizing, I recommend checking the website and your preferred airline’s requirements. These hold up well over time and feature thoughtful design, with extra pockets to keep items safe and organized. I love the Everywhere bag for my personal item on the flight. It holds my laptop, camera, travel adapters, and more.

what to pack for Paris in December

You can use a small pouch or parcel to keep your melatonin, vitamins, hand sanitizer, tissues, and other essentials in one place. I always find this helps me, especially as the plane transitions into sleep mode and the lights turn off. I need a sleep mask like this one for the flight.

Tech Accessories for A Long Haul Flight

I recently discovered this adapter that connects to your seat screen so you can use Bluetooth on your headphones. If you have the budget, these Bose headphones are a worthwhile splurge. I have lost too many airpods on the flight over the years. This Cuyana leather bag keeps all my cords and tech accessories organized. I like being able to grab just what I need in the middle of the flight and have it handy.

What to do in Paris in November

November starts the shoulder season, and I think it is an excellent time of year to visit, especially if you have flexible schedules. I have been to Paris during a few Novembers and had great trips. The city is quieter due to fewer tourists making shorter lines for the popular Paris attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. If you arrive late in November, you will see the beginning of the Christmas decorations and holiday markets. This post will give you some great ideas on the best things to do in Paris in November and hopefully encourage you to book a trip to Paris.

Paris Weather in November

While October weather can be beautiful with sunshine and warmer temperatures towards the end of the month, expect the weather to turn in early November. The average temperatures during the day are in the 50s and in the evening it could get down close to the 40s.

You will want to pack a hat, gloves, and scarf for wandering around the city. A warmer wool coat is strongly recommended instead of just a trench coat. Pack an umbrella in your bag. Your hotel or apartment rental should have umbrellas, but they may not be small compact ones; expect a larger umbrella. You can see this full post on what to pack for Paris in the autumn. French Holidays in November

There are a few public holidays in the month of November. All Saints Day is on November 1st. Depending on how it falls in the calendar, along with school breaks, there could be a lot of French kids and families out and about.  While some shops, museums, and restaurants might be closed, you will still find places open. On November 11th, you will also find businesses and shops closed for Armistice Day, a national holiday.

Check in advance for museum opening times and plan your day accordingly. You might find it easiest to keep this as an easy travel day and check out the parks or explore a different neighborhood. I love the 9th arrondissement these days (you can see my guide here), and there is so much to see between the 9th and Montmartre.

The third Thursday of November is Beaujolais Nouveau. You will see signs around Paris for this celebration. Pop into a wine bar or café and participate. The wine is made of the Gamay grape and is produced quickly after harvest, usually 6-8 weeks. It is a more fruity and light wine that should be served cold. It won’t be the best wine you have tasted, but it is a great time to try it with other locals if you are in France during this time. This is the official kick-off to the festive season.

Paris Gardens to Visit in November

Parisian boulangerie

Luxembourg Gardens is located on the Left Bank of Paris. You will find the same green chairs around the city in different Parisian parks. Grab a baguette sandwich from a local boulangerie, or grab something from Bread and Roses, La Parisienne Madame, or The Smiths Bakery. Set up a little picnic in the park. There are tons of kid-friendly areas in the park here as well.

Luxembourg Gardens in the Fall

Tuileries Garden is just in front of The Louvre Museum and is popular with tourists and locals. I love grabbing a coffee at Café Kitsuné just across the way. You can easily take the metro here and exit right off in front of the gardens.

Parc Monceau is located in the 8th arrondissement and is more of a destination location and not in the heart of postcard Paris. It is worth a visit and one of my personal favorites. The gold gates will let you know you have arrived. Soak up the Parisians, and people watch in this magical park. Try the boulangerie Boulangerie Léonie close by on Rue de Levi a fun food street.

Paris Parks to Visit in November

Palais Royal is located tucked away behind the Louvre. It was a bit off the radar for many until recent years with Emily and Paris and Instagram, it has gained popularity. Palais Royal is a personal favorite of mine and where I got engaged. The columns in black and white are what has put it on the map. Keep walking further for the garden. The trees are bare right in November, but if you come back in the spring or summer, they will be filled and groomed. Roses and dahlias fill the inside gardens for pops of color, and magnolia trees bloom in the spring.

Paris Attractions to See in November

Everyone always puts the Eiffel Tower at the top of their list. I love seeing it from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, which also has great views of the city.

The Grande Roue de Paris, the large Ferris wheel in the Tuileries, goes up in late October. My husband and I did this on our latest trip to Paris. It was so much fun and done on a whim. We didn’t wait too long and had a beautiful birdseye view of Paris.

Grande Roue de Paris

Palace of Versailles is worth a day trip. I wouldn’t try to squeeze it in for half a day. November is a perfect time to visit because the crowds will be lighter. Keep in mind the first half of the month, there are holidays, and kids will be out of school, and a weekday may be just as busy as a weekend. I went to Versailles in November and was lucky to have a foggy and rainy day that allowed me to have almost all of the palace to myself.

versailles day trip from Paris

The grounds are extensive, and I would recommend biking or having some sort of transport around. I did a bike tour in Versailles last year and had the best time. The town of Versailles is adorable, and there is a market where you can grab cheese, wine, and a boulangerie for baguettes. If the weather is decent, you can have a picnic on the palace grounds.

The Salon du Chocolat, which is held from October 29 to November 2, features over 500 chocolate producers and pastry chefs. It is located at Porte de Versailles, accessed via the metro station.

Christmas at Disneyland Paris starts in November. If you have kids, this may be something that you could add to your trip. I haven’t been to Disneyland Paris to speak to any of the details.

The Paris Pass, which you can order in advance, allows you to skip the line at the Paris museums and major monuments.

Paris Rainy Day Activities in November

Expect rainy days during your trip to Paris. November weather is expected to be a bit rainy. While it can slow you down a bit and change the vibe of your trip, the city can be romantic and beautiful in the rain.

Parisian café rue cler

People watch at a café for the afternoon with a good book and a glass of wine. French culture allows you to hold a seat for as long as you like if you order a drink or food. The waiter won’t rush you off; you have time to soak up the scene and relax. You will most likely have to request the bill with “l’addition s’il vous plaît.”

what to do in paris in November

Visit the Louvre museum for an afternoon to see the Mona Lisa and other famous works of art. To warm up, I recommend a stop at Angelina for a cup of hot chocolate. If you have little ones, this is a great activity to keep them busy if it is cold and rainy. There is a location on Rue de Rivoli across from The Louvre.

Expect a bit of a line depending on the time of day. The hot chocolate is thick and decadent. Don’t miss the whipped cream on top. If there is too long of a wait, pop into a neighboring café for chocolat chaud (hot chocolate).

More Rainy Day Paris Activities

For more rainy-day Paris ideas, pop into Galeries Lafayette to escape a rainy day if you are over museums. Check to see if the rooftop is open. It is a great place to view the city and the Paris monuments. You can also shop Bon Marché if you are on the Left Bank, which is one of my favorite department stores. Their food market, called Le Grande Epicerie de Paris, is something you have to see. Kids might also like browsing here, and you can pick up some food souvenirs for home. The prices are slightly higher than your usual grocery store, so be warned of sticker shock. It is worth exploring. Bonus: you can get butter vacuum sealed here for your trip home.

Take a food tour with La Cuisine Paris and learn about the culture and French traditions. They will take you to some of the best places for baguettes, cheese, and charcuterie in the city and you will meet a few visitors in your group. If you are traveling solo, this is a great time to meet people. La Cuisine offers more than just food tours. You can also sign up for one of their cooking classes. I recently did their croissant class on a rainy day and had so much fun!

what to pack for Paris in the autumn

Paris in the autumn is one of the best times to visit. The city of light is full of energy. You will notice the changing colors on the trees and ivy filling the city pop against the neutral greys and blues of the building’s architecture. Paris weather starts warm at the beginning of fall and slowly transitions with the season to crisp mornings and evenings. This post will help you better understand what to pack for Paris in the fall, from the best layers, sweaters, boots, and coats to pack. You will be ready to explore the city of lights in the autumn.

Paris Autumn Weather: What to Expect

Paris in the fall. Place des Vosges fountain

In early autumn, expect warmer days and lots of sunshine. The average September temperature typically ranges from the low 70s, and this trend can persist into early October. There will be plenty of sunny days in Paris, so don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses. Discover this post for what to pack for Paris in September.

When packing for Paris, I recommend bringing waterproof boots, an umbrella, and a trench coat or a stylish raincoat for the inevitable rain. Even when rain isn’t in the forecast, it is good to plan for it. Paris can throw an unexpected shower even on the sunniest days. October weather starts warm, and you may need a sweater or light jacket. The weather changes progressively over the month, cooling off. Evening temperatures can drop into the 50s toward the end of October, so a light scarf is recommended. You will want to ensure you are comfortable enough for dinners and sightseeing in the evening. The temperature drops in November and early December, so it is essential to pack a wool coat for the cold weather. Of course, there are many shops around Paris where you can pick up anything you have forgotten. I love Sézane, Sandro, and Maje for coats.

There will be plenty of sunny days in Paris, so don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses.

Preparing for rainy days is a good idea when planning a trip to Paris. Activities on a rainy day in Paris include a cooking class with La Cuisine Paris, visiting museums, embracing the rainy weather, and enjoying a meal at a Parisian café terrace. Check out this blog post for more rainy-day ideas in Paris.

I recommend packing a travel umbrella in your day bag for unexpected rain storms. Chelsea waterproof boots are a perfect option as the style is currently on trend in Paris.  Blondo boots also make high boots that go to the knee, which I love. They are trendy, and the flat boot is a great option for walking around the city.

Packing Tips for What to Wear in Paris: Accessories for Fall

what to wear in Paris in the fall

Layers are essential when preparing for fall in Paris: consider wearing scarves, t-shirts, or camisoles under your sweater, and a jacket. You can take off or add layers throughout the day, depending on the change in temperature or weather.

Paris outfits for the fall

Wide-leg and straight jeans are currently in trend.  When it comes to what to wear in Paris. Parisian women dress up with a more elevated put together look and layers are always important. A scarf, bag, bangle bracelets, a belt, are all accessories to add to your outfit to pull it together.

Parisian Neutral Color Palate: What to Pack for Paris in the Fall

Paris fall packing list
what to pack for paris in the autumn

Parisian women have a great sense of style and work around neutral colors. You can mix in a pop of color, but when packing for Paris in the autumn, basics work best with a few essential accessories. The Parisian-style capsule wardrobe is easy to accomplish with jeans, a little black dress, ballet flats, a white blouse, and cozy sweaters. These versatile pieces make it easy to mix and match to create different outfits. Some of my favorite color trends for fall are a pop of red or burgundy and olive green. You can add these in with jewelry, belts, or shoes.

The Best Carry-On Suitcase

AWAY suitcase

I highly recommend packing in a carry-on when traveling to Paris or any other European destination right now. This way, you don’t have to worry about not having your clothes (luggage getting lost) when you touchdown in Paris and can hit the ground running. The larger Away bag is a great carry-on bag.  I always shower, change into clean clothes, and freshen up when I land. Packing cubes can make a huge difference when packing in a carry-on suitcase. I love these from Away, which I have been using for years. You can easily pack what to wear in Paris for a week’s trip this way.

For my personal item on the flight, I typically carry my AWAY everywhere bag. It is large enough to hold my computer, chargers, camera, and everything I need to take my business to Paris. You can easily pack a change of clothes and toiletries in this bag. There are so many pockets to help you stay organized. One of the perks of this bag is that it slides right on top of my rolling suitcase, making it easy to navigate throughout the airport. If you are packing lighter and don’t need as much, I love the Cuyana top zip tote

Enjoy this printable Paris packing list that will help you plan what you need for your upcoming trip to Paris in the fall.

Coats to Wear in Paris: What to Pack for Paris in the Fall

A light or leather jacket will be great during the early months. If you check the weather forecast and there is rain, you might want to pack a stylish rain jacket. I say stylish because I would say leave your rain slicker at home. J.Crew has a cute one here if you are looking for ideas. I also recommend a trench coat. This is a hot trend in Paris, and it isn’t a coat worn just when it rains outside. You will see many Parisian women walking around in various colors of trench coats. The camel color is the most popular. I have one from Sézane that I always love to wear in Paris. J.Crew has an option for a trench coat here.

A leather jacket is also an excellent option for the earlier months of the fall season. You can pair this with a scarf and black pants and feel Parisian. I bought my leather jacket from Madewell, a piece that’s an investment (I got it on sale). Sézane also has a great option that I love. Quince has one that is a fraction of both the Madewell and Sézane jackets.

Sézane Coats for Paris

For colder days and nights of autumn in Paris, you will want a warmer coat and scarf. Sézane, J.Crew, and Other Stories all have great options. On my last trip to Paris in October, I noticed many Parisian women wearing navy, longer wool coats, and I purchased one last year that I’m eager to wear again this fall/winter.

Sweaters to Pack for Paris in the Autumn

In early to late September, you should be okay with lighter sweaters. Once the weather turns in October, you will want to pack chunkier sweaters for the colder months. I love the sweaters from Sézane, Tuckernuck, J.Crew, and Quince. The Gaspard sweater is a French girl staple and can be worn in three ways. I have it in multiple colors. I must pack at least one of my coziest sweaters in my closet for a rainy day in a Parisian café, for a little extra warmth for an outside terrace.

The Best Shoes for Walking in Paris in the Fall

Mederick wool belted coats Paris

I highly recommend packing comfortable walking shoes and leaving the high heels at home. They can be challenging to navigate in the cobblestone streets of Paris and aren’t worth it. For the fall, sneakers are a great option for walking around Paris. Please make sure they are comfortable. I highly recommend these Madewell sneakers, which I have worn for years. You need to break them in before you leave, or else you risk getting blisters. Once they are broken in, you will love them. Sneakers are perfectly acceptable in Paris right now and are even considered trendy. Sézane makes the jack sneaker, and there is also Véjas, a French brand.

When packing for Paris, I wear my heaviest pair of shoes on the plane. This frees up space in your luggage. Typically, I plan to wear a pair of sneakers in Paris.

Ballet flats are also comfortable shoes for walking around the city. I own these Margaux demi flats, which I repeatedly wear in Paris. I have been wearing ballet flats for years, and I am happy they are trending right now. Madewell makes the Gretta flat and is under $100.

I love a good blazer over a dress, button-up, or sweater. It elevates a look. When packing for Paris in the fall, a good neutral blazer can be worn multiple times with different outfits.

Makeup and Skincare to Pack for Paris in the Fall

French women are more natural when it comes to makeup. Mascara, eyeliner, a good concealer, and a red lip are all you need to look put together. Achieving good skincare and a glowy, healthy complexion is easy with French pharmacy products. Avène, Klorane, Bioderma, and Caudalie are some brands you will notice for sale almost everywhere. You can also buy these in the US, but they are less expensive in France.

Accessories to Pack for Paris in the Autumn

When traveling in Paris, I carry a small wallet with my credit card and ID when I am out and about. This one from Cuyana is a good choice.

Additional Items to Pack for Paris in the Fall

paris in the rain everyday parisian

Paris offers a lot to explore in the autumn months. Even a walk in the Parisian parks is an afternoon well spent with the changing colors and golden light. Check out this post for ideas on what to do in Paris in the fall.

Pack a camera. As a travel photographer, I always pack my camera when traveling to Paris. Currently, I am using and loving my Fuiji XT4. Your iPhone camera does a great job. Don’t feel the pressure of having a fancy camera for your trip to Paris. There are a few cute retro photobooths around Paris, and they make great souvenirs.

what to pack for Paris in the Fall

A journal or pad of paper. I love collecting travel journals and writing notes about my daily agenda or places I discovered in Paris. My creativity flows the most when I am solo and unplugged in Paris.

Pack The Paris Guide with you to help you navigate the city and discover hidden gems. Explore the maps of all my favorite restaurants, bakeries, and neighborhoods.

The Paris Guide

My travel steamer is one of my favorite purchases, and it was inspired by a trip to Paris a few years ago. Our hotel had this steamer in our room, which was a game changer. I was never a fan of ironing, but steaming brings me joy, and I love mine. The one I own is great for home use. Many of my friends have recommended this travel option, and I plan to purchase it for my upcoming trip in September.

With these additional items, you’ll be prepared to make the most of your trip to Paris.

Travel Accessories to Pack for Paris

Travel adaptors are so necessary. Some hotels will offer backups at the front desk if you have forgotten yours, and you can also pop into Monoprix to purchase one. I leave all my travel chargers and accessories in my tech pack to make sure I don’t forget anything when I travel. A portable charger isn’t a bad idea to pack in your day bag in case you need an extra charge towards the end of the day.

Getting around the city is easy. The Paris metro is available at all points around the city. I love walking the most because you can see so many details of the beautiful city. As a photographer, I am always finding something that catches my eye. One of my favorite times of the day to explore Paris is early in the morning before the city wakes up. The light is magical this time of year.

Travel Insurance for Paris

I hope this post helps prepare you for your next trip to Paris. Travel insurance is always a good idea. I use Faye Travel Insurance. My laptop and camera have health coverage for traveling in Europe. It is an added cost, but it provides peace of mind when traveling outside the US and staying in a hotel room.

When it came to packing for Paris for September, I was in a rush to get to the airport on time. I pulled a few key pieces I couldn’t wait to wear in the fall along with some great staples like comfortable walking shoes, denim from Frame, and my trusted Cuyana bag for walking around the city with my camera. This post includes everything I packed for Paris in September. My favorite new find was my plane pants from AYR.

P.S. don’t forget an umbrella like I did. It is one of the things I recommend to pack each trip because rain always seems to pop up in the forecast even when it is unexpected.

This *La Ligne sweater is a favorite and I pack it for Paris every trip. It is a bit oversized in a size small and so cozy for the plane or a colder day. Layer with a white t-shirt.

What I Packed for Paris in September 2025

September weather was on the warmer side. For the first time in years, I didn’t pack a trench. Did I regret it? 100%. The reason why is that it rained and it would have been nice to have with me as an extra layer. Parisian women were wearing trench coats in the rain and sun. They were so happy to be able to break out this key wardrobe staple once the weather turned a little cooler.

I packed this Jack blazer that was great for a shoot and happy I carried it on the plane with me.

The Best Walking Shoes for Paris

My Cuyana zip tote is perfect for carrying around a notebook, pencil, and my camera. I am always jotting down ideas as Paris is what fuels my creativity.

These Sambas were $100 and perfect for walking all day. I averaged 20,000 steps a day and these were the hero of the trip. Size down .5 a size. I am usually a 8.5 and ordered an 8.

Kathrine loafer by Larroudé. When I pulled these out to shoot with my friend Katie she gasped and told me how much she loved them. Loafers are hot in Paris with and without socks.

Accessories for Paris in September

This black classic belt from Sézane came in handy and I wore it daily.

Sweaters for Paris in September

I packed the Paris sweater by Alex Mill in green. This color is sold out but they have a few other color options. I bought this last year and have worn it several times. It is a wardrobe staple and great with denim and a pair of flats.

Cos short sleeve sweater Paris

For sweaters, I packed this Cos short sleeve sweater that kept me cozy and warm during the unexpected rainstorm. My one pop of color was a burgundy sweater from Sézane that turned out to be one of the trending colors I saw on repeat in Paris. Very on trend.

Otis jumper Sézane

Blouse and Denim for Paris

Frame Denim is my go to. I packed the borrowed denim and mellow. The darker black toned denim wash was a hot trend. I even had this conversation with one of my Parisian fashion meetings.

Parisian black outfit

Frame polka dot blouse

This Frame blouse is a repeat piece from earlier in the summer. I packed it for South of France and I couldn’t wait to bring it to Paris. Paired with Frame denim.

This ME+EM blouse has become a staple and I have been wearing it on repeat. It was the first thing I grabbed out of my suitcase after refreshing at my hotel.

What I Wore on the Plane to Paris

For the plane, I wore these AYR pants with pockets and I have to say I am in love. I ordered them in a medium and they were so comfortable. Plus, they have pockets which is a bonus for travel. The perfect white t-shirt is from Splendid. For the flight, I wear compression socks from Bombas.

Visit a French Grocery Store for Souvenirs

You may not think of it, but the grocery store is a great place to shop for souvenirs. There are lots of unique French products to bring home. Browse the aisles and remember if you are packing in a carry-on or checked bag. If you have a checked bag, look for confiture (French jams in various fruit flavors), olive oil, and honey. I love bringing back Fleur de sel as a gift for friends who cook. French sea salt is an affordable and small item for your luggage. Keep an eye out for this pink baking powder. The French swear by it!

French baking powder

You can also bring back a colorful tea towel or a torchon, a French term for a similar item. French kitchen items make the best souvenirs for the chef or baker in your life. I picked up this one at La Cuisine Paris. You can find some at Monoprix in the kitchen section.

Les Bouquinistes in Paris: Where to Buy the Best French Souvenirs

Books by the Seine Paris souvenirs

Les Bouquinistes are the vendors that line the Seine across from Notre Dame with green wooden boxes filled with books and paintings. Stroll the Seine and pick up an old book or a piece of art to frame. The Bouquinistes are an iconic part of Paris, offering an excellent place to pick up a souvenir. Each vendor is different, so take a little time to stroll around and choose something unique. They can roll up posters into a tube for easy transport home.

What to Buy in Paris: E. Dehillerin

Dehillerin is a world-famous kitchen supply shop in Paris. My friends at La Cuisine Paris always talk about this shop. It is the perfect place to discover and shop for kitchen items if you’re passionate about them. They have various professional cooking equipment, baking pans, and copper pots. Dehillerin is closed on Sundays, so keep this in mind as you plan your schedule. The shop will ship to the US, so if something doesn’t fit in your suitcase, you can send it home.

Paris Souvenirs: Visit a French Flea Market

Paris dishes at the flea market

A Brocante is a French flea market. You can find it all over the city in various neighborhoods and districts. On the weekends, there are pop-up Brocantes identified by signage in the arrondissement a few days in advance.

Visit the Puces in Paris on the weekend to find something special. Take line 4 to the end of Clignancourt and walk about 10 minutes to the area where all the vendors will be. Another quick option is to take an Uber or taxi directly to the Puces. There are a variety of vendors and markets, all intertwined for an afternoon adventure. Book lunch at Bonne Aventure, and it will not disappoint.

What to Buy at a Paris Museum Gift Shop

The museum gift shop shouldn’t be overlooked, as it is one of the best souvenir shops. Pick up a postcard, bookmark, or poster from the Louvre or Musée d’Orsay. Each museum gift shop has specific items based on the art and exhibitions at the museum. My aunt used to send my sister and me these gifts when we were kids.

Buying French Perfumes in Paris

French perfumes Paris Diptyque

Perfume is very personal to me and may be best as a gift for yourself instead of bringing something home to a friend or loved one. You should wear the scent throughout the day to see how it changes and if you still enjoy it. You can create your perfume in various locations throughout Paris.

Diptyque has excellent options, as does Penhaligon. I typically pick up new scents in these two spots while in Paris.

Check out the Fragonard perfume museum close to the Opéra Garnier for something unique. The Paris department stores have a wide variety of French perfume brands. This is probably the best place to purchase a perfume with the guidance of a sales representative. Don’t be intimidated by the sales staff not speaking English. There should be someone to help you.

Bring Home Art from Local Artists

Place du Tertre is known for the local artists in Montmartre who paint portraits and sell their art. The area is touristy, and I recommend buying art on the banks of the Seine. I have had luck outside the Louvre museum, crossing over to the Left Bank, and on Pont Neuf, finding local artists who paint or draw. I purchased a piece framed in my home and a beautiful reminder of Paris a few years ago. Occasionally, you can find a painter in Place des Vosges who does gorgeous paintings.

Paris Souvenirs: French Pharmacie

I love to shop at French pharmacies for beauty products. I started trying different French brands for skincare when I moved to Paris in 2013, and I haven’t stopped since. There is always something new to try or discover. Some brands to look out for are Avène (they are famous for their healing thermal water), Klorane (my dry shampoo of choice), which is also the best-selling French dry shampoo, Caudalie, and Sisley Paris are my favorites. Sisley Paris is a higher-end makeup and skincare brand, and you might have better luck finding it at a duty-free or department store.

I often visit French Pharmacies in Paris, and someone always speaks English. I highly recommend chatting with someone working at the pharmacies for recommendations. The Best Paris Souvenirs: Shakespeare and Company

the best souvenirs in Paris shakespeare and co

Anything from Shakespeare and Company is an excellent gift for the book lover in your life. This is one of the most famous bookstores in Paris. You can purchase second-hand books as well as new books from the bookshop. Always remember to have them stamp the inside with their iconic Shakespeare and Company stamp. If you don’t have much room in your bag, consider picking up a tote bag. These canvas tote bags not only help contribute money to the bookshop but also serve as a reminder of your memorable trip when used at home in the US.

Paris Matchbooks from French Bistros

My husband and I make it a point to collect matchbooks from our travels. Whenever we see a restaurant or bar with matches, we grab one for a souvenir. We don’t smoke, but always need matches to light a candle or the fireplace. They also make great styling pieces on our coffee table or mantle. The matchbooks bring back great memories of meals in our favorite city.

French Food Items for Paris Souvenirs

Maille mustard store Paris souvenirs

If you are a foodie or know someone who loves to cook, consider bringing home a French food item as a perfect souvenir. French dijon mustard is a great idea, and visiting the flagship store in Paris is also a fun experience. The Maille Mustard shop is close to the Madeleine metro stop in Paris. You can taste a variety of mustards, including some with unique flavors like fig and classic honey mustard. There are also many options at the local grocery stores, such as Monoprix or Carrefour.

Confiture Paris best souvenirs

Confiture or jam in various flavors, along with honey, also make excellent foodie gifts. The French take their jams and honey seriously, with shops dedicated to them.

Paris cheese shop ile st louis

French cheese makes an excellent gift for a Francophile. Some cheese shops will vacuum-seal your cheese so you can put it in your suitcase. Specifically, a cheese shop on Île Saint Louis will do this for you. Le Grand Épiciere will also vacuum-seal your cheese and butter for one euro.

Barthélemy is a favorite cheese shop on the Left Bank close to where I typically stay, and they will vacuum-seal cheese and butter at no additional cost.

How do I Bring Back Butter From France?

Bringing back butter from France is fairly simple and something I do often. You can pack a few ziplock bags into your suitcase for this if you don’t get the chance to vacuum seal. French butter is available at grocery stores all over Paris. Carrefour and Monoprix are names you will often see, offering small outposts and larger stores. Even the small ones will have butter available for purchase.

Bordier butter is the one to get, and Le Grand Épicerie at Bon Marché has an incredible selection. I find that butter has a quick expiration date, so if you plan to enjoy it slowly, it’s best to purchase it at a grocery store with a longer shelf life.

Paris Coffee Shops: Bring Coffee Beans Home as A Souvenir

10 belles coffee shop Paris

Paris has an extensive craft coffee scene that keeps growing. Many craft coffee shops, including shops that roast their beans, are on-site. Bringing beans home from Paris and other places I travel has been one of my favorite souvenirs. It is a fun way to extend your trip and bring back memories. I try to support local coffee shops whenever I am traveling. Beans run around 15-20 euros, and I use them in my Breville machine at home. If you frequent a particular coffee shop, it is best to buy from them.

Breville coffee machine

I recently enjoyed 10 Belles coffee while in Paris. Based on my flavor preferences, they recommended the mixed cassette tape blend. It was a home run, and I was so sad when I finished it. We purchased another bag when I was back in April. It is best to buy the bag with whole beans and grind them before brewing at home.

French Macarons: Pierre Hermé Paris Souvenirs

Paris souvenirs to bring home

French macarons from Pierre Hermé are my top pick for those who love macarons and want something French and fresh from Paris. There is a Ladurée and Pierre Hermé shop at Charles de Gaulle Airport.  They will keep in the fridge for a few days, or you can freeze them for up to a few months.

Angelina Hot Chocolate is a classic Parisian souvenir. You should try the hot chocolate yourself at least once, but I will warn you that it is thick and sweet. They have a few shops around Paris and Versailles. I recommend the tea room on Rue de Rivoli for the whole experience. It is one of the best things you can do on a rainy day in Paris if you visit for the first time. This goes over very well with kids. Angelina sells hot chocolate in two forms: a liquid version in a bottle and a powder version. You can tuck the powder version away in your carry-on.

French Chocolate: The Best Paris Souvenirs

Alain Ducasse Paris chocolate souvenirs

French chocolate is my favorite souvenir from Paris. I typically buy chocolate for myself and gifts for friends at home at Alain Ducasse. Their packaging is beautiful, and there are a few shops in Paris. I love anything praline, especially when paired with dark chocolate or praliné avec chocolate noir. They offer a variety of flavors, including dark and milk chocolate, in both bar form and small chocolate pieces. I prefer to take the bars home and break off a little square with a cup of coffee.

Debauve and Gallais chocolate

Debauve & Gallais is another favorite chocolate shop of mine that I love to visit. They have a shop in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and now also a new shop in Place des Vosges. Their chocolate bars make great gifts, and I also love their pralines, which are toffee and nuts covered in chocolate. Their packaging is beautiful and makes such a great gift for a loved one or yourself.

The Best Paris Souvenirs: Tea from Mariage Frères

Mariage Frères tea in Paris. The best French souvenirs

Mariage Frères is famous for its tea. They offer a wide variety of tea selections, making them great souvenirs. In Paris, there are several locations now to pick up Mariage Frères tea. My favorite shop is the Left Bank of Paris on Rue des Grands Augustins. I try to pick up some tea for home each visit. Their fruity green tea is what I typically drink at home. If you are traveling during the holidays, be sure to try their Christmas tea, which is a top pick of mine. Mariage Frères has a new variation each year.

French Wine as A Souvenir

A bottle of French wine is the perfect gift for a wine lover. This is a popular souvenir because French wine is much more affordable abroad. A one-liter limit exists for duty tax to be returned to the US, and laws prohibit you from mailing wine to certain states.  You can always pack a wine bottle with the proper padding for those checking luggage. This blog post gives all the correct details on how much wine you can bring home without duty tax and how to pack your French wine correctly.

Paris Department Stores

view from galleries lafayette rooftop view of Paris

Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are two major department stores located on Boulevard Haussmann. The department stores are enormous, with various clothing brands for men and women. If you’re buying gifts for multiple people, this is a great way to get everything done in one place. Don’t forget to bring a photo of your passport to qualify for the VAT tax and save 12% on purchases over 100 euros. The major department stores can guide you quickly and walk you through the process. You must turn in a form at the airport, so allow extra time. You can pay VAT taxes at stores all around Paris. Make sure to ask as you are checking out for the forms. It will take a bit longer as they have to enter it manually.

Paris Souvenirs: Photography

Photography of Paris is my favorite souvenir. There are many trips when I barely buy anything to bring home, but I always get photos of Paris. As a Paris photographer for over 14 years, I love capturing the city’s everyday life. If you don’t take the best pictures, leave it up to me and enjoy the city of Paris, and you can purchase something from The Print Shop to remind you of your trip to Paris.

I also recommend hiring a photographer to capture you in Paris. This idea is great for families, couples, and solo female travelers. My friend Katie Donnelly has done all my photography for years, and her photos of me in Paris are some of my favorite memories.

The Best Paris Souvenirs: Metro Tickets

the best souvenirs of Paris everyday parisian

This may sound simple, but I truly love discovering old Metro tickets in my pockets or at the bottom of my purse. They will eventually phase out the metro tickets and collector’s items. The metro costs 2.10 euros to ride and is the perfect little souvenir of Paris. I use the metro tickets on my desk as reminders of Paris, and they make ideal bookmarks.

Marin Montagaut: Paris Souvenirs to Buy

Marin Montagaut

A few years ago, I discovered Marin Montagaut. He hand-paints on ceramics and glassware in fun designs celebrating the little details of Paris. A metro sign, the chairs at Luxembourg Gardens, or the famous Café de Flore. It is the perfect gift for a Francophile. The ceramics and glass are not easy to transport, but the store is terrific at wrapping pieces for travel. I carried home a few dishes in my suitcase.

Marin Montagaut also offers journals, scarves, tea towels, and pillows for non-breakable items if you are concerned about transporting things home. The artist sells at retailers in the US, but the prices are much higher. Spending an afternoon browsing the shop after spending time in Paris is enjoyable.

Where to Buy Baby Gifts in Paris

One of the most famous French items you may know is the giraffe Sophie, which is a teething toy. This can be found at different grocery stores and pharmacies in Paris. For a budget-friendly and cute option for clothing, I love Monoprix, like a French version of Target. They have adorable baby clothes and toys that fit easily in your suitcase. Also, I love Petit Bateau, a French brand you will find all over Paris. Their branding is iconic blue and white stripes with bright yellow; you can’t miss it.

I hope you enjoy this post on the best Paris souvenirs and that it helps you come up with ideas for your friends and family for your next trip to Paris.

The Best Paris Souvenirs: Luxury Goods

The euro is currently at an excellent rate compared to the US dollar, making shopping even better for American tourists. If you’re looking to buy a luxury item like a handbag, purse, or shoes, now might be the ideal time. Visit the original Chanel store on Rue Cambon, where Coco Chanel had her apartment in Paris. Louis Vuitton is less expensive in France than in the US. It makes for a fun experience if you are looking to purchase a bag.

I recommend having patience when shopping during peak times or the weekend, as luxury shops can be bustling. Ask for a glass of champagne, take your time, and soak up the experience. The shops on Rue Saint-Honoré have many of the flagship locations of the major luxury brands. Even if you don’t have it in your budget, it is fun to pop in for a look.

Duty Free Shopping at CDG Charles de Gaulle Airport

When it comes to luxury shopping in Paris, don’t skip the duty-free shopping at the airport. I am always early to arrive, giving myself plenty of time at the airport. This helps avoid the airport stress that I feel on travel days. Charles de Gaulle Airport offers a wide variety of luxury shopping in a duty-free zone. Once you pass through security, you will have a sea of retailers such as Cartier, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton. If you didn’t pick up something during your trip and have your eye on a luxury purchase, this is a great place to do it. You don’t need to submit your VAT tax for the discount, as it is already been applied in-store.
